August 1st musings
[There will probably be another Armitage-related post today, but I needed to drop a few miscellaneous things here.]
Personally: I can’t believe it’s August 1st. Especially considering the top of my to do list includes stuff I put there in May. Sigh. Beginning of term is not far off. Where did the summer go?
July 2012 was the biggest month ever at “me + richard armitage,” by a factor of about a third: the blog’s first 60,000+ hit month. I attribute this explosion to three things — ComicCon, remarks made about it at imdb, and the fingers of faithful readers. For the first and last I am profoundly grateful. I really hope that as time passes, we fans remember July 2012 as the moment that Armitage burst on the wider scene and wowed everyone who met him to pieces, the foreshadowing of his big screen appearance in November / December 2012.
Last August — Armitage birthday month — I did a month of charity appeals. I’m not together enough to do that this month (and it astounds me that I’d be even more discombobulated this year than last), but I’m hoping to get in some discussion of this theme, nonetheless. Honestly, I think the best birthday present we could send Richard Armitage would be a mass gift bombing of his JustGiving pages!
An appeal that urges us to give within our communities has also been set up, and it’s still looking to meet its goal of 100 donations or a pint of blood or pound of food in time for Mr. Armitage’s birthday on August 22nd. spReAd the love encourages donations of blood or food. You can join the challenge at its FB page or else at the blog of its organizer. This effort is not endorsed by Armitage, but has been undertaken by a group of fans who want to spread the love they have to their communities. I’m not an organizer but I’m standing behind this and I plan to give as soon as I have fifteen free minutes to donate some stuff to my parents’ church’s food bank.

Thanks, as always, Dr. S!
What Thorin wants …
Seriously … I’m scheduled to donate blood on Friday. Always a good thing to do.
Thanks, I’ll add you to our total!
Donated!
Super, thank you!!!
Thanks!
It’s a good thing to help out the community. And doubly so to do so as a gift to someone I admire. Thank you all for putting this all together, getting the word out and giving us that opportunity.
My pint was donated yesterday! Have a great rest of your Summer.
Thanks so much!
Unfortunately, I can’t donate blood as I have asthma…
I do donate clothes regularly to a local charity, but haven’t donated food yet. I’ll look into it.
That would be great! Thanks!
