I started writing a post at the encouragement of a fellow blogger and I got 3,500 words in and am not done. I may need another 1,500 words and I’m tired. So, instead, I offer you this cartoon I saw on facebook today.

Thorin for me is the ‘first violin’. I am not sure if this is also the English name for the lead violinist, but in absence of a conductor, he leads the orchestra. If Gandalf is not around, Thorin draws the strings
