The Beard will be coming back. Just sayin’.

To all the people who are rejoicing or mourning the demise of The Beard — this means you Agzy, Judi, and Judi, Judi again, IngeD3, I feel obligated to mention: he’s going to have to be Thorin again to finish the filming for The Hobbit — that battle sequence mentioned, and pickups. So The Beard will be back. We may not see it, just as, I might add, we haven’t seen that it’s disappeared. But The Beard is not gone forever.

And here, at “me + richard armitage,” The Beard will live forever. We’ll always have all those ComicCon pics, too. Mmmmm. Beard.

Here’s another great beard pic. If you haven’t donated to spReAd the love — the request is a pint of blood, or a pound of food — won’t you please join us? If you have already donated, thanks so much!

  1. That’s the good thing about beards: they grow back!! :-)
Mmmmmm. Beard. *disappears to look at those ComicCon pictures…again*

  2. YAY!!! It sure will be back! And it will be as gorgeous as everrrrr!!!! Am I the only one who likes him equally with or without beard? He’s gorgeous either way!

    • Don’t worry, you’re not the only one…
I will enjoy the beardless Richard until the glorious beard grows back!

    • I’m positive there are lots and lots of us who are in the same boat as you and love him whatever he looks like!

    • In addition to being a firm believer in hairincarnation, I also firmly believe that a man’s chin is his castle. He can, and should, decorate it as he pleases (or as the part he’s playing demands) … follicleless, stubbly, full-on bear — ummm, I mean, beard.

Me … I’ll enjoy “the chin” until it again indulges in hirsutuality.
      :)

(apologies to the English language … )

      • Servetus likes the chin, too.

        • It’s a very nice chin … ;)

Speaking of which … are we sure that The Chin and The Beard didn’t have a prior agreement? One that stated after the Hobbit hubbub at ComicCon settled, they would take a short hairitus from one another, giving The Beard the chance to be out of the limelight for awhile, rest up and have some fun. And, conversely, giving The Chin a chance to be seen out and about for a change?

          • The Chin has always been very shy, but perhaps after all this time behind the Beard, The Chin is ready to be seen again.

      • Hairincarnation- love, love, love that word! Genius!!!

      • You’re soooo funny, zan!! Thank you ever so much for the laugh!

    • I assume 98% of this is meant humorously. Terrorist groups who attack him in hotels to remove the beard notwithstanding.

  3. So, what are ya saying? ;)

But I paid respect to The Beard! What, you didn’t believe me? ;)

  4. Looking for Revenge of the Beard!

  5. RA converted me to like both states, with or without ;o) So I don’t mind, as he is a sight either way ;)
Just see, I am of one opinion with Judit.

  6. I keep reminding myself that the beard will be back. So, if we do get to see a new picture with the beardless, hopefully stubbled look, I’ll enjoy it knowing the beardy goodness isn’t gone forever! ;)

  7. Although I’ve greatly enjoyed Judi’s early obituary of Beardy – I personally felt it was a bit premature and still consider Beardy more accurately described as “missing in action” – shot down behind enemy lines and the like – rather than certifiably RIP dead.

Even POW of tornado movie could be more accurate. ;)

  8. :D UK Expat!

    • :D FITZG! :D My fellow International Expat commenter!

Like zan, I also believe in hairincarnation, but Beardy’s captors might do well to read up on the basic treatise of the Third Geneva Convention – just in case. ;)

  9. I’m gonna find him and give him a laser treatment so the beard won’t grow back. Judi can thank me later.

  10. I love the beard, but it’s been at least eighteen months since we’ve seen him without it, so I’m really looking forward to seeing him clean shaven or stubbly (oh, yes please!) again.

    • It was the only beard I ever liked but I was quite Pleased to hear it had gone.

I watched the VoD the other day and was struck by how like Owens beard it had got by comic con. It was time for the chop.

  11. Richard’s beard let himself be flushed away so he could be with Hugh Jackman while The Wolverine is being filmed. Once that is over, he will return to his rightful owner, to the delight of most of the RA Army. ; D

  12. It’s coming back? Oh, wonderful, I’m back in business then. Ladies, The Richard Armitage Beard Trimmings Delux set has all sold out, but expect this ite to be on sale again very soon :)

    • I forgot to clarify why the beard has to come back. Come January, the cast and crew of The Hobbit go back to filming what is still needed for movies 2 and 3. Richard has stated that he needs his own beard as a foundation for the fake one, so that it will: 1. Stick better and, 2. Not bother his skin.

According to the IMDB, other than the tornado movie he is filming now in Detroit (it no longer has the title ‘Category 6′, according to Deadline.com), it appears that he has been unable to accept any other projects until the production of The Hobbit is completed. Since the third movie comes out in theaters in 2014, I think it’s safe to infer that most of the actors will be stuck in New Zealand for a very long time. At the rate this is going, he’ll probably fall in love with a local woman and surprise most of the Army.

      We’ll see what happens.

      • Well, ANFHFAA Agent NZfanofRA will have the barn at Stone Street studios built by then, and should be prepared to do battle against any re-emergence of ‘the beard’ on behalf of all ANFHFAA members worldwide. :)

I’d link to the comments in Servetus’s previous post mentioning this – but well, I don’t know how to do that. ;)

      • As I understand additional filming will be done in summer 2013 and I think that means summer in the northern hemisphere. January doesn’t seem likely as Martin Freeman will film the third series of Sherlock at that time. I also think it will only take them two months to film the extra material, PJ said so much.

As to the beard, I think most of the time it will be the real thing on screen, I don’t think they attached a fake one once the real one was impressive enough. But if other commitments prevent him from regrowing the beard (that seems likely, as he seems to prefer to work all the time) he may have a fake one for the additional filming. My only real concern is that that may cause visible continuity problems or affect his acting.

        • that MTV interview back in the day mentioned that they’d be doing stuff into 2013, iirc. When does the southern hemisphere summer end? March?

      • Much of the Armitage Army would probably be delighted to see him fall in love with a local woman, I think :)

        • This has certainly been a hope of mine since we first heard he was going to NZ! :)

          • But that would make things difficult in the future as he probably has no plans to settle in NZ permanently. And it is a bit to far away from the rest of the world for a weekend relationship.

            • Well, if he found someone who didn’t mind moving. My suspicion is whoever he’s with is going to have to be a very independent minded person, capable of spending a lot of time alone without being frustrated about it.

          • Oh, mine too, Teuchter!

  13. Anyone with him must have a life of her own. As well as being prepared to support his. (Actually, earthquakes notwithstanding, I rather fancy the climate there (NZ) more than here…):D
