Absolute utter unAdulterated Armitage Anniversary
At RAFN (FB group — you must join to see posts), Grati reminds us that it’s been two years since the announcement of Armitage’s casting as Thorin and offers a commemorative wallpaper. What a two years! In a slightly different context, what a year!
On October 22, 2010, I inaugurated the tag “absolute utter unadulterated joy!” for this event, and I still feel that way.
Teaching / grading / writing academic stuff today. Look for another post this evening sometime, I hope.
[ETA: you can also access Grati's wallpaper here.]

I remember that it was October when it was announced. I’m normally rather placid in showing emotion, but I whooped and jumped and squeed like an idiot for a while in our (then) small apartment. My family was amused – I was beyond thrilled to know he landed such a part even thought it’s not my favorite genre film. I’m writing my fan letter now…before the storm hits.
That would have been cool to see. The calm Trudy beside herself!
Wow, hard to believe it’s been such a long time. But now with the release date of the first movie drawing close, the suspense is killing me! I feel certain the movie will be pure delight.
After this long, I don’t see how it can disappoint. I’m really starving for some new Armitage screen time to watch.
I remember well that it was today two years ago. I was in a state of shock and unable to be happy at first because I had waited for something like this for so long. In a way, still nothing has happened, it is still all anticipation and build-up. But in two months (if all goes to plan, e.g. the world doesn’t end) it will be reality.
I remember being really shocked. But the two years have flown by for me.
Hi Servetus!
Today we celebrate the 2 year anniversary of the next leap forward in Richard Armitage’s career–his new “role of a lifetime”, that of portraying Thorin Oakenshield in the three “The Hobbit” films!
I can’t wait to see the films. They will be amazing based on what the filmmakers have shown us so far!
Cheers! Grati ;->
P.S. And thanks so much for the mention and links! But today all belongs to Richard Crispin Armitage.
