Tea with Armitage

This is really strange, it’s sort of a mix of clip collection and fanvid. Not sure what to call it. I was just thinking about Mr. Armitage and tea. And somehow tea always makes me think of that old Police song, “Tea in the Sahara.” So that’s kind of what you get here.

You can’t see the youtube version in Germany, of course. For any German viewers, here’s a vimeo link.

I want to make more fanvids of the music type — doing this again reminded me how much (often frustrating) fun it is — like putting a jigsaw puzzle together. This was a lot easier to do, and while there are three or four things I don’t like (and was too lazy to fix), I think I’m making progress. But / and, it’s difficult to vid because one just gets so transfixed, looking at John Porter. I can’t tell you how often in the last minute I’d be replaying a sequence to get the timing right, and just forget to pay attention to the beats / frames connection because I got so entranced, looking at John Porter. What a waste, that Mr. Armitage can’t play that role any more.

It made me think about writing a Porter fanfic … Man. Oh well, it’s the weekend for a few more hours.

  1. Ah! That euphemism again? 😉

I hope you do make more fanvids! You’re good! 🙂

    • Yup. Making Tea with Armitage. MMmmmm.

Thanks for the compliment. The software makes it very easy.

    • Teuchter, as I’m a tea drinker ( 4-5 times a day), ever since you let slip with that euphemism, it’s been tough keeping my mind on the liquid version rather than the RA version. The two are indelibly linked in my brain now! Still, it does add a certain something to what used to be a mundane task. 😉

      • A little je ne sais quoi perhaps? Happy to be of service!! To be honest I’d almost forgotten about the “euphemism” until recently! Almost 10 years of widowhood can do that to one!

  2. Thank you, for rescuing us here in Germany with your great video, Servetus! Time for tea is any time of the day, at least with RA ;o) Good to see Porter ‘with’ tea as well. That was really the one part missing in Strike Back I ;o) 😉

    • yes, of course, next to the unbelievable scripts, all of the cliches, etc., etc., I suppose tea is a minor problem, but tea would have made Strike Back better 🙂

  3. LOL! Great job! Tea . . . coffee . . . cocoa . . . anything shared with these gorgeous characters would be divine. *sigh*

I like to imagine John and Layla enjoying a cuppa together while exchanging meaningful glances over the rims of their teacups . . . 😉
maybe a bit of footsie beneath the table?

Video making software has made leaps and bounds, hasn’t it? Ah, one day–when I become a published novelist–perhaps I can afford to upgrade my computer and have the capabilities to do vids with footage rather than stills. I have plenty of ideas mapped out in my head.

And hooray for Vimeo! I have more German viewers there than any other nationality, and I am sure it’s because so many of my vids at YT are blocked in Germany.

  4. Two favorites here, RA and Sting, a wonderful combination. Thanks!

    • Thanks for not thinking Sting was hopelessly retrograde … I’ve got some more stuff coming, I hope, with Sting, even though it dates me.

  5. There is nothing wrong with John Porter!!! He’s absolutely perfect, just as he is/was. I can’t get used to thinking of him as dead yet…..it took me a while to accept that Lucas was dead, too. I miss them both so much.

I hate tea…except the weak iced variety with lemon! I prefer herbals.

Don’t forget Lucas also liked his coffee!

LOL, I don’t really drink coffee much anymore either …..I’m one of those terrible plebs who likes weak (about half-strength) latte made on skim milk with hazelnut syrup!

    🙂

    Great video, by the way.

Now, ladies…does it cost much for these video-making products?

    • Some of the software is not terribly expensive ($60 to $100 for basic programs. If you get into Sony Vegas or the more advanced Adobe programs, you are likely talking several hundred dollars.

However, Windows Movie Maker comes with most new PCs and iMovie with Macs. I use WMM and Muvee Reveal (the latter came with an external hard drive Benny brought for his desktop. I have purchased an upgrade and some additional style packs from MR at very reasonable prices. It is idiot-proof, i.e., even Low Tech Angie can create impressive stuff with it 😉 ). Be warned–it is addictive . . . and it takes up a lot of memory on your computer. Just my slideshow vids have taken a big chunk out of what I have on this laptop.

Dead? Dead!? May I remind you Lucas and John P and Guy are all SND-So Not Dead, my dear Kathryn. That’s my story and I am sticking to it. 😀

I have a Keurig which lets you brew one fresh cup at a time in no time flat. And I love tricked-out coffee like Mississippi Mud Slide and Butter Toffee with flavered fat free creamer . . . being a good southern girl, I lurve my sweet iced tea (with or without lemon) all year round.

      • I enjoy those flavoured creamers when I visit Melanie in CA – wish I could get them here. We have a powdered product called Coffee Mate (coffee whitener) but it’s plain. Some supermarkets have those little creamer cups in French Vanilla (packs of 15) and used to have them in Hazelnut, too, but they seem to have disappeared, unfortunately!

I need to get in there and read your ..Sloth Fiction?…where Guy, Lucas and JP are SND! Love that thought! I’m still waiting for my RH DVDs from Amazon.co.uk – hopefully, they’ll arrive this week. Guy’s a Doll.

Thank you for the advice about the video makers. I bought a new CPU only 2 months ago but it doesn’t have Windows Movie Maker installed so I’ll have to check out some prices. But not until after Christmas

        • You would enjoy the black ops mission the ChaRActers go on to revenge Lucas in SF . . . I haven’t written the one for JP yet (I was so darned depressed at the time) but rest assured, he is alive and well and as sexy as ever. 😀

My mom started using regular Coffee Mate ages ago when they only had the plain powdered variety. We actually have tons of different Coffee Mate flavors available here now in both powdered and liquid forms. My sis had sugar-free hazelnut liquid creamer at her house when i was visiting and it was delicious. Cremora and General Foods international Coffee are a couple of other lines. Right now I am using fat free French vanilla creamer.

      • My new laptop has a basic video making program I think, not sure if it came with the Windows 7 upgrade or it’s one that my husband’s mate loaded on for us. Either way, I’m keen to have a try, but rather nervous of doing so and finding that I get hooked and spend even more time on the computer doing RA related stuff!

      • yeah, if you’re going to vid with footage you might as well start off with an external harddrive anyway. In June i bought a laptop that had 3x the space of my old computer and it’s already mostly filled up.

        • I have a pocket hard drive with one terabyte capacity. That’s a lot of photos, videos, fanvids, scans, etc (all RA elated). Let’s just say I’m doing my best to fill it up. 😉

  6. Fabulous video, servetus! Worth all the blood, sweat and tears! SB was worth it for the blue burkha ladies alone 🙂
Kathryn, my coffee has to be half cream with much sugar – or a la viennois, a scoop of ice cream in it, to make a lovely summer refresher.

n.b. Porter read somewhere that tea is a ladies’ beveredge, and doesn’t put hair on you chest….

    Like

    • 🙂 I don’t want JP to grow any hairs on that beautiful chest -I want to be able to admire every square inch of it! 😉

I had a skinny weak latte with hazelnut syrup as an indulgence yesterday after I took my darling Asha Lily (Matthew’s daughter aged 4) to see “The Smurfs” movie. Most people make coffee too strong for me these days but I’ll have a very milky one occasionally in winter.

I have never taken sugar in either tea or coffee and drank my tea rather weak, too (my mother said my tea looked more like p.. than tea, naughty woman!). Mum, being of the old school, liked hers strong. I gave up drinking tea as no one ever made it weak enough for me – as a young person I had it black, no sugar, preferably with lemon.

Have you seen the clips from Hugh Jackman’s “Oklahoma” that moraven has uploaded to YouTube? I think it’s from 1998. I always think that Richard would sound something like Hugh when he sings for real – I don’t know why.

  7. I enjoyed this vid, servetus, had a chuckle at the line “and he gets his nose right in there.” And what a beautiful nose it is too. 🙂

I love the smell of coffee, but don’t drink it. I’m a tea drinker, skim milk, not too strong, no sugar, but it’s hard to get a decent cup of tea when I’m out so I often settle for a hot chocolate instead.

    • love chocolate, too 🙂

With a nose like that, he can really unfold the aroma of the tea, methinks 🙂

    • I feel like they are drinks for different occasions. Coffee in the morning, tea in the afternoon 🙂

      • That’s what I drink, Servetus. Sadly the “tea” is of the non-euphemistic variety these days. 😉

On a more down to earth note, I drink a lot of Rooibos (pronounced Royboss) tea as it is naturally caffeine-free and I like the Vanilla Rooibos from Tetley’s. I like it fairly weak with some skimmed milk. Probably not the proper way to drink it but it suits me!
