Legenda 26: Stuff worth reading (the get caught up after travel edition)
[Legenda offers a brief, non-inclusive index of stuff I noticed and enjoyed since the last episode. It doesn’t usually include materials presented on the major fansites, which I love dearly, but which are linked in the sidebar. Because I always forget or just miss stuff, please add additional pieces of interest via link in the comments.]
Happy Mother’s Day, North America. I basically still feel about this holiday how I felt last year. This year, of course, I’m home. We went to church, and I made a big dinner. I was relieved this morning that obviously the church leadership has decided to back off the unrestrained motherhood worship. Now I’m blogging. Eventually I will take a nap. The weather is gorgeous, so hopefully I’ll be able to nap outside. Mmmm.
- New home page with detailed information about the N&S global rewatch. You can also like the facebook group for the same updates. Dates: June 1 & 2.
- Bccmee‘s “Graphic a Day in May” continues. This is probably my favorite one so far.
- Grati muses on the tension between loving a real someone in real life and ongoing fantasies about Richard Armitage.
- Fic updates: Saga of Vaenomar (Thorin AU), chapter 7; Cruelle Splendeur (French/ Guy of Gisborne) — explicit passages this time — chapter 5.
- Ania loves Richard Armitage’s hands! (in English; Polish also available).
- Ian McKellen’s doing a one-man show in New Zealand to fundraise for a local theatre that needs renovation. More on this at Heirs of Durin.
- A very creative Thorin wallpaper by JasRangoon.
- Slightly OT, but still sweet: April’s Violet recounts her personal encounter with Rupert Penry-Jones.
- Cute fan art at CDoart. I missed the original directions at JasRangoon’s, but you can click over there, too. An Armitage coloring book can’t be far off! We can addict the young!
- If you haven’t seen it, a new Spooks S9 promo photo excavated by Jonia. (This was featured at RichardArmitageNet.com).
- Is this ever pretty!
To wrap up my trip: I listened to Venetia, three times, but did not even open Lords of the North. Too afraid of the tears! And finally, on the open poll question, here are the results:
Most respondents thought he’d either simply go with the flow, or return to the Don Johnson look. (Although I’m not sure how many people were voting here for what they wanted to happen, or what they think he will actually do.) Only two people thought he wanted to look like Thorin in real life, but I was cheered by the five “amusement” votes for shaving off all of the hair on his head. I have to get my hair cut myself, soon, and that’s what I’m dreaming of!
I’m hoping to post again tonight but we’ll see. Now it’s on to my nap.
It’s always great when you post these links because I miss out otherwise. Thanks for mentioning my Graphic a Day project! I’m done with all of them and am scheduling them ahead of time. I hope my schedule clears up soon. 😀

I definitely voted for what I would like to happen beard-wise, not what I think he’ll do! Because then I’d have voted for #1 and as opposed to #5. Wow, I’m so glad you liked the screencap I suggested for bccmee’s project.. Those siggies are adoRAble aren’t they? I love boyish Richard!:) Thank you for the links, servetus! I find them very useful! 🙂

I think I didn’t get around to voting myself, but I probably agree that he’ll follow his usual inertial principle. My impression is he doesn’t really care that much, and why rock the boat?

Thank you very much for mentioning my little colouring project so favourably ;o) It was great fun and I can only recommend to do it.
I recognize that I am much more effective workwise, when I do RA-projects, than in times where I try to be absolutely effective and do no RA projects.
Regarding the beard, I voted for what I thought he would do, not what I wanted him to do. I would have voted for clean shaven then, but only opted for short stubble, because I think he will be (deservedly) a bit lazy after all the filming and lots of hair 😉

I think if he adopts that hairstyle because his skin is irritated by shaving, that would be the best option for him. I love the full beard but I know it’s not considered stylish.
Re: coloring — hmmm. Now that the nieces are here …

Hi Serv,
I love these lists you create as well. They make sure that I don’t miss something on someone else’s blog when I get behind in my reading. Ha!
Thanks also for kindly mentioning my latest poem.
Cheers! Grati ;->

I didn’t get a chance to vote, but I imagine he’ll shave the beard as soon as he’s out of character…however long that takes. Re shaving his head to look ugly, I think RA has an uncanny ability to change his physical appearance even to the point of being ugly. There are lots of images in the first episodes of RH Season 3 where Guy looks horrible, but I guess that could be a good makeup team.

I was thinking of his remark about when he was cast in Spooks, suggesting to the writers that he could shave off all of his hair, and them not wanting him to look *that* unattractive 🙂

I’ve never been properly introduced to Lucas North and as a result haven’t followed the character very much. That’s why I was excited to hear Spooks 7 was going to start on my local PBS station. I must have the seasons mixed up though, because Lucas was in full spy mode when I tuned in last night. So I still haven’t been properly introduced.

one of the most (of many) unbelievable moments of Spooks 7 was that basically 90 minutes after springing him from Russian captivity, Section D has him working as a spy. Still S& clearly had the best script(s) of any series of Spooks he was in.
