Somehow, it looks like you would need physiotherapy afterwards
Dr. Jane Cameron (Zoe Telford) and Alex Track (Richard Armitage) kiss in a publicity still for The Golden Hour. Source: RichardArmitageNet.com
This is a new The Golden Hour publicity photo that appeared on RichardArmitageNet.com today. I don’t know. It looks to me like kissing at this angle would make your neck hurt. Somehow.
Great. Just what I needed. This is probably a more accurate depiction of how it would look for Thornton to kiss Margaret, considering their height differences – not exactly the romantic picture I prefer to envision!

Yes, that’s been mentioned and I’m convinced it was a factor (or THE factor). Margaret in the book was described as tall. DDA didn’t have that raven hair, either.

Servetus…you’re the really observant one…did Richard have his teeth capped since N&S was made? I was studying some of the pics on Ali’s site last night and his bottom teeth seemed not quite so straight and perfect…or was that my imagination? I thought he’d had them done earlier than N&S until now.

If they went on at length in this position, yes, but it seems like an initial invitational kiss that, if accepted, would have them getting much more comfortable quickly.

I think of how he had to bend over to kiss Dawn in VoD. Endearing and comic at times, which worked well on the show. Yes, having Thornton and Margaret sitting while they kissed worked ever so much better. I am six inches shorter than Benny, who is a couple of inches shorter than Richard, and I have used the tiptoe method to sort of meet him half-way. Heels help, too, only people with bum knees can’t manage them so well. 😉

I was shipping for them, too, but the Spooks experts pointed out to me that she’d just been in a relationship w/Adam, who’d been blown in 7.1., and so it would be both plot repetitive and not entirely believable …

Another solution: Have the tiny lady stand on something so the tall guy doesn’t have to hurt his neck kissing her! For example in True Blood Anna Paquin was standing on her porch when she and A.Skars first kissed. It worked well, I didn’t have to go “ouch, his poor neck, this looks uncomfortable”, but “awww, this is sexy”… 🙂

I didn’t hate it but in almost all of the stuff he’s been in, I enjoyed the production apart from him. Not this. But as I’ve said before that’s because in comparison to the U.S. medical dramas I’ve watched I found the repeated multi-perspective scripting tedious.

No, it went off the air several years ago. I think there were ten seasons? Eleven? Something like that? By the time it went off the air they had removed all their original characters and most of the second generation ones — there was nothing to write about anymore, and they had completely exhausted their original premise, which was a combination of soap opera, medical information, and unusually realistic gore for US network TV.

One other thing to keep in mind is that the traditional poses for screen kisses (until very recently) were set up to make sure that the camera could see the woman’s face (men want to kiss her, women want to be her). The idea was that audiences weren’t as interested in depictions of men’s desire. So the left arm down facilitates that, I guess.

I would think the female part of the audience would be interested in depictions of men’s desire! Even more so if the man in question is called Richard Armitage! 🙂

I wrote a fair amount about this in the fall (“Genesis of Perving”). It’s only recently (last several decades) that media representations of the male genitalia have been put forward as something that women should find enticing. Previously images of men suggested that women should find other things more attractive.

I think it’s a legitimate question in the search for gender equality, whether we really want men subjected to all the things women were subjected to in the past. What I suspect is that we’d prefer no one subjected to the negative things (stereotyping based on body, e.g.). Or, to put it differently, yes, I want women to be able to do everything men can do in the military, but what I *really* want is to get rid of the military.

You know…what’s good for the gander is good for the goose? I’m an idealist I guess – I just want equality from movie and television producers 🙂 Men should be be protrayed as mere sex objects for a change and let’s see how they like it! Whoops..now I’m getting a bit serious. Sorry

Hi Serv,
It is also the angle of the RA and his costar’s heads when kissing that get me in this posed photo.
My head always goes to the right when my hubby and I are kissing–standing, sitting, lying down, whatever. We “fit” together that way. I have tried the left leaning kiss and it gives me a crick in my neck–as you mentioned.
And height difference with one’s lover isn’t an impediment, Pin Up. My hubby is 6ft 4 inches tall to my 5ft 2 inches tall person–he is14 inches taller than I am! I stand on my tippy toes and he leans down when we kiss. Him sitting works well, too. And of course, everyone is the same height lying down. *wink*
