This is the first time I’ve ever reblogged anything — but this is the Armitage fandom I know and love. People working together to make things happen for each other; people who have stuck with me during ongoing years of struggle and always offer kindness, prayers, advice and support during a crisis. At the end of the day, this is what I want from the Richard Armitage fandom, and I hope you feel that way, too.

Two weeks from today–good Lord willing and the Creek don’t rise–I will be at Comic-Con. Thursday through Sunday, July 12-15, I will be in sunny San Diego, battling the crowds, seeing people dressed in outlandish and amazing costumes, listening to various celebs and industry people speak, recording panels and interviews, writing articles and, hopefully, gleaning information you all will find interesting, informative and just plain fun.  After all, if it weren’t for you all, I wouldn’t be going.

First, I have to thank Frenz for providing the link to Comic Book Resource’s article about needing reporters for the event. And once I was accepted by CBR and earned my free four-day pass and the promise of a stipend and all the convention junk food I could eat, it was Frenz who created my donate button through PayPal for my Comic-Con Trip Fund. She and fellow bloggers were kind enough to promote it and readers and fellow bloggers were generous enough to…

  5. I don’t comment often enough on the blogs, but I have to say thank you to the wonderful members of our little community for supporting Angie. I was tormented and picked on as a child, and if there’s one thing I can’t stand it’s a bully. I’m just glad we have each other here in the RA community to turn to for love and support.

  6. Thanks Servetus, the more who see that this is what our Armitage fandom are about the better. The sadly negative “fans” are thankfully in the minority. I’ve only been on the main RA blogs for a year or so now, and I can’t speak highly enough of the thoughtful, funny, intelligent and generous people I have encountered. I love being a part of this wonderful community.

  8. As a recent RA discoverer (I know, was I living under a rock?) the fandom has given me nothing but delightful experiences until now. For all of you who have welcomed me into this little community, I would like to say thank you, and please let us continue to behave in this way. Kia kaha (Be strong – in Maori).

  9. I have read Angie’s post yesterday and I’m very sad and sorry for her.

I know RA since 2009, but I am recent on this fandom. I love it, I can talk about Richard with other ladies all around the world (and it helps me improving my English 😉 ).

I don’t understand why some people are so bad with some of us…

I give all my support to Angie. 🙂

  11. Dear Servetus, I too would like to thank you for supporting Angie. I’m completely heartbroken over this whole affair. I was so happy for Angie and very much looking forward to Angie’s reports from CC. It was such an uplifting experience to be part of the common effort to help her get to San Diego. And then along comes an obviously very sick person and destroys the dream for Angie, and for us as well. I’m so angry with this evil creature I’d like to slap her in the face… How dare she do such a thing? I’ve only been in the fandom since January this year, but I felt at home in it from the very first moment, and Angie’s blog was my “starting point”. I’m very grateful to her for inviting me to visit and comment on TAE. I wish I could do something to make her feel better…Like you, Servetus, I too hope she won’t be able to stay away from TAE for very long, although I respect her wish to take some time off. I try to take comfort in the thought that the “bad apples” are in the minority..

  12. I still start to cry when I think about fedoralady and how disappointed she must feel. I put so much hope into her appearance at the ComicCon, for her fun, well deserved treat after a hard time for her, and just because I am very curious and so much would have liked to hear inside reports from the ComicCon from ‘one of us’.
Thank you, Servetus, for promoting the good side of our fandom. It is so precious to me and it is so important for me, to keep its free and supportive spirit.

  13. I am so sorry for Angie and cannot believe that a cyber bully actually has ways and means to affect someone in her real life and beyond comments and emails, which in itself already is bad enough! If she is so concerned about people/fans crossing boundaries and not treating others with basic respect, how can she justify that?

    • Yes, Jane, I was thinking the same, that it’s not really “cyber-bullying” anymore, is it, it turned into “real life bullying”! And this real life bullying hurt more than one person, it also hurt her family, and her friends in the community! 😦

  14. Cyber-bullying is a crime. Angie was one of the first commenters I met on Me + a year and a half ago. I admire her sense of humour, quick mind and moral compass. Angie, just go west, have a wonderful time, and write your heart out.

No doubt we should have compassion for the cyber-bully cowards; They are evidently suffering. Such incidents deserve to be mentioned within our group, if only to underline that the group does not embrace passive/active malice.

My heart hurts, not just for myself, but for all those saddened and disappointed by this turn of events. Give me some time. I’ll be back.

    • Dear Fedoralady,
You are the dearest person and my heart weeps that a malicious cretin stole your hopeful expectations and ours by preventing you from attending Comic-Con.

If there is any justice in this world, there will be a reckoning to the dreadful cretin that did this to you.

But I was so hoping that you might still travel out to San Diego since your plane ticket and hotel were paid for. You could interview other people about their accounts, even if you could not attend Comic-Con. And who knows? Maybe angels would intercede and you might be able to get in? But I understand that being “around” Comic-Con if you could not participate in it might be too painful for you. You have to do what is best for you.

You always have my love and support dear friend. I will be thinking about you and keeping you in my prayers.

      Love and Hugs, Grati

  19. I’m so sorry for you, dear Angie.

I agree with Jane; no one who is honestly and truly concerned about
fans crossing boundaries and basic respect could have behaved like this.
It’s a contradiction in terms; the only explanation I can found for such a “behind the back” stunt is a serious mental problem. I hope she gets help.

    Hugs to Angie and Prof.

And I have to mention my Benny, who has been such a source of comfort for me. He was so touched by the original support for this endeavor and now he is very impressed by your comments and show of support for me. I think he can even better understand why this fandom is so important to me now.

    • One thing we’ve learned is that anyone who is writing about Richard Armitage publicly right now would do well not to mention his or her legitimate plans to see Armitage at any public appearance until they are over. It’s too risky. (I assume people who have non-legitimate plans to try to see him are smart enough not to write about it in the first place.)

      • Yep, it’s a shame you can’t share certain good news with the public b/c someone may be lurking and waiting to throw a spanner in the works, but such appears to be the case. *shrugs* Covert ops required . . .
