Legenda 65: Stuff worth reading
[Legenda offers a brief, non-inclusive index of stuff I noticed and enjoyed since the last episode. It doesn’t usually include materials presented on the major fansites, which I love dearly, but which are linked in the sidebar. Because I always forget or just miss stuff, please add additional pieces of interest via link in the comments.]
I read almost nothing this week. Apologies. But I am feeling quite a bit better and thank you all for your good thoughts. The last weeks without your presence would have been a much more fragile, precarious time.
Just noted this tweet from Nathan Kress about Armitage — filming more Black Sky in LA today. Mr. Armitage, I’m so glad you’re not in the snowstorm. But to all who are, please stay safe and warm. I’m thinking of you.
Good things come in red packages
I recycle my image of Richard Armitage as hongbao from last year. Happy Lunar New Year to all those celebrating it. Best wishes for joy, prosperity, health, long life, good fortune, and happiness!
FanstRAvaganza 4
It’s not too late to sign up to blog for F4! Sounds like the dates are established for the week beginning March 11th. Sign up to participate here.
This week’s classic FanstRAvaganza comes from F2 and was put together by RAFrenzy — reflections on Richard Armitage’s voice, and the voices of three of our fellow bloggers — Jonia of Jonia’s Cut, mulubinba of An RA Viewer’s Perspective, and Musa of White Rose.
Richard III
Lots of great stuff this week that will get included in the Richard III rumble post on Monday. But what a week for Richard III fans! And if the media response to the news fascinated you as much as it did me, check out this post on the response to the announcement about Richard III and social media — thanks to KathrynD for the reference.
Richard Armitage Archive
- The Full Armitage (breakfast).
- Ana Cris still wants Lucas.
- “My son is never ill!” On Mr. Thornton and illness. I had my own issues with this lately.
- Armitage’s statement bolsters open, self-accepting singlehood. All I can say as a happy single is: Right on!
- Mark Atkin (Richard Armitage’s small-scale double) finally gets some coverage. Go, Mr. Atkin!
- Would you pirate a copy of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey while waiting for the DVD?
- Does it matter if Richard Armitage looks like Richard III? I think that they do look strikingly alike based on the new construction, but that it is entirely immaterial. It’s interesting to me that suddenly we care about verisimilitude because we have … a forensic reconstruction of a face based on the skull of a man who’s been dead for half a millennium? Why should it suddenly matter more than it has in the past?
- If you like to pin, join the Richard Armitage Community Pinterest board.
- A longer-term (I wonder if we’re going to end up saying BTH and ATH for “before The Hobbit” and “after The Hobbit”?) takes position on some of the questions that exploded around the web after Armitage’s recent big screen appearance.
- Agzy’s tiff with Armitage.
- He does it again — how Armitage appreciation made life bearable.
- Thranduil apologizes to Thorin Oakenshield.
- Mulubinba evaluates, mourns the too-soon demise of, The Golden Hour.
Lunar New Year Greeting Cards No One Ever Sent
Richard Armitage-related fanfic
- An intensely moving Richard III haiku.
- Agzy’s humorous Thorin fanfic rec.
- Ania starts to talk about her favorite fanfics.
- Jas Rangoon offers Bagginshield and RPF recommendations. (Both involve slash — if you don’t like this stuff, just don’t go there! Thanks.)
Tumblr
Sorry. I am not abandoning you but I did not go there even once this week. Too much illness and Richard III going on.
OT, collateral attractions, and things I think about
- Phylly’s awesome Canadian penny musings. There was something a few years about the U.S. penny being in shortage — apparently a lot of them end up land fills or something.
- Prayers for the Myers-Briggs types. Mine was right on. (INFJ)
- A blog you really need to read by a fellow Armitage fan– a musing on what you associate with needing the phone, for instance.
- Are the disappearance of the pen and ink just around the corner?
- A professor’s considered opinion about the “new” 50 Shades.
- What really made Mary Ingalls go blind?
Ah, single…I’m not in any way considering ditching my husband, but I sure do enjoy pretending to be single with my bff from time to time. Rock on with your single self Mr. Armitage!

I’m getting more on this bandwagon lately, not sure why. I’ve been single for two weeks shy of seven years — maybe that’s why.
