Richard Armitage Legenda 88: Stuff worth reading
[Legenda offers a brief, non-inclusive index of stuff about Richard Armitage that I noticed and enjoyed since the last episode. It doesn’t usually include materials presented on the major fansites, which I love dearly, but which are linked in the sidebar. Because I always forget or just miss stuff, please add additional pieces of interest via link in the comments.]
Hey everybody — love all the comments I got this week and am about to go catch up. Meanwhile — if you like these blogs or tumblrs, please leave a like or comment! Thanks!
That’s a relief
Haven’t gotten enough Lego Thorin and air guitar?
Here’s another take on how Lego Mini-Thorin could play air guitar, based on an earlier post by the same author, which I forgot to refer to in my post on this topic this week. Apologies to The Arkenstone; I just spaced it.
I’m not a cat fan but I couldn’t resist this

Because it still makes me happy
OT, collateral attractions, and other things I think about
- Moments when you need to be an adult.
- This is huge in a bad way: tumblr (recently purchased by Yahoo) is changing its policy on adult / NSFW tumblrs. From now on, if you tag yourself (or tumblr tags you) at a certain level of content, your blog will not be searchable — even via tags — unless the person searching is *already* following you. This kind of policy would make it very, very hard for the sort of spontaneous “sexy confessions” tumblrs to find their audiences. I have to say this almost makes me angry.
- Tweeting in Latin.
- Martin Freeman on his romantic partner’s bankruptcy and other things.
- We will miss you, Ryan Gosling.
- “Trayvon Martin and I ain’t shit.” This made me cry when I read it.
- India ends telegraphy. Have you ever sent or received a telegram? I sent about five to my boyfriend in Moscow, in 1990-91. It was really expensive. I had an email account at that time, but as a U.S. student studying at a Soviet university, he couldn’t get one.
Love you, Serv! Thanks for the links and the other interesting stuff!

I love it when you post everything I’ve missed! I don’t even know how you find this stuff! Thank you for kindly mentioning my story. I wish they could just stay in the cave…the end. Sigh. Sometimes I just hate how much I love the original story.

Wow- was this all in one week? I wish I could take my phone to the beach and spend a few languishing hours catching up on this. Alas, I’ll have to settle for the laptop and the living room to OD on fanfics.
Legenda is such a gift. Thanks.

Minus all the stuff that I just reblogged and so didn’t repeat here. An active week when you consider that basically nothing happened. ….

Great stuff as usual, Serv.
As an add on to the report about North and South being carved up to fit cable channel requirements, I can report that the BBC is not above doing a bit of chopping up of their own. I was pleased to see N&S pop up on my BBC iPlayer this week, so I decided to watch it on my ipad. Well, just little bits cut here and there; certainly nothing like Arkenstone reported, but still, when I checked I found they’d taken 8 minutes off each ep. Why would you do that on a platform you have complete control over? Needless to say I am awaiting email response to my complaint.
On another topic entirely- is there some sort of roster going round the fandom to put dibs on those Thursday afternoon teas?

I wonder whether they’re Thorin Thursdays or still Thornton Thursdays? 🙂
I saw a Dutch version of it on yt once, and they cut “Look back at me!” I was horrified.

Thanks for the links to my stuff and to a plentiful week…the muse is working and all over 🙂
This whole tumblr thing is really irritating…what is the point of this, and where does it end? It really begs for someone to “invent” the newest version…do to tumblr what Facebook did it MySpace I guess.

I’ll confess I find it enraging because I feel like the emergence of the tumblr Armitage fandom was really good for us — it was sort of understood that tumblr was “wild” and edgy and libertarian, and if you went over there, you shouldn’t complain if you didn’t like what you found. I don’t know, maybe it’s just the case that when a medium becomes popular enough to go mainstream, it stops being able to have all those qualities. But I don’t see the problem with a neighborhood on the web that is riskier than elsewhere. And I love those sexy blogs.

I’m so tired of the same old rationale that someone..minors I suppose , needs to be protected from whatever…1. That horse is already out of the barn and 2. Why is it not the responsibility of the individual (or the individual’s parents to make these choices). I’m just feeling a bit big brothered I guess.

when you consider how many tumblr users are teenagers — one reason I don’t spend as much time there is that I’m actually a bit concerned, based on students’ remarks to me, that I might run into some of my students there — and many of them are the ones creating the “questionable” content …

I don’t know, I’m not a huge tumblr, I just resent this because it stinks of censorship to me and once it starts, where does it end. I personally feel like it is next to impossible to shelter kids from the Internet…I’m fairly sure my oldest, and maybe the youngest can defeat most safeties I put in place, but I’m trying to teach them to make good choices…probably like anyone, at any point in time has done in analogous situations (peep shows, porn stashes, etc). Questionable content seems to be the natural habitat of teens of all eras.

I did not realize John Porter had a rib tat… and I’m not sure how I feel about the fact that I didn’t know. I feel like I should have noticed, since I have noticed the one on his arm. but on the other hand, this does back up the fact that I really do watch it for the storyline! *laughs*
