Thorin in regal red, or: This is a fluff post

DOS2-13Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield, from the recent trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

***

So, sorry. I was writing about Thorin  tonight and got involved in a bunch of conversations. Guylty will be with us in a few hours (I think), but if not, I’ll finish that writing up tomorrow. Meanwhile, doesn’t Thorin look really royal in this red fabric?

Talk to you soon.

  1. I may be on the road to being accused of having a strange hair fetish but is it just me or are the braids getting darker and everything else lighter? Maybe it’s just the red. So regal.

    • I think he’s supposed to be younger in this scene. Don’t know, though, so I hope Hobbit fans will enlighten us if they read this.

      • I thought we were looking at him, possibly noting the arrival of a couple of armies he’s not happy to see…I didn’t realize we would get more dwarfish back story in this one?

      • Maybe I can help. I think we’re looking at Thorin while he and the others are approaching the Lonely Mountain, after they left Lake Town with provisions and new clothes, chapter “On the doorstep”.

  6. Regal in red and looking divine. I love Thorin’s costume in TH: AUJ, but I have to confess I’m looking forward to this one here and the deconstructed version we’ve seen in the trailers and pictures – billowy sleeves and open necked shirt. A glimpse of dwarf chest hair would make my day. 😉

    • I gave in today and projected it on the auditorium screen in my lecture hall before class. The students were laughing at me, but WOW. And that’s not anywhere like a movie theater …
