OMFG Richard Armitage’s audition for Thorin Oakenshield

H/t to Perry for the suggestion to look for it — I wasn’t going to watch any more tonight.

Very strange to see the Lucas North face in this audition but the raw emotion in that snippet — also Lucas North’s palm to face move — but seriously emotionality here, amazing intensity. They say they saw Thorin right from the beginning and I totally believe it after seeing this —

and the status move with the chin, in this case a shame move, was there from the very beginning.

Crying again.

  4. It was heartbreaking to see Lucas North look back at me during that audition. Still wearing a Lucas North shirt, too. I think this was probably the audition he talked about where he’d injured his back and was on a lot of painkillers.

  5. You are *really* tempting me to buy the digital copy instead of holding out for the bluray as planned.

  7. So now I’m crying about your comments and about the fact in Italy we still don’t have the iTunes link to download it. Let’s hope the give it us today. And I won’t wait, I can assure you.

  10. I can’t wait to see it! My dvd hasn’t arrived yet. But I’m so looking forward to it. Thanks for pointing us to what will no doubt be a real gem of and RA performance in his audition tape! And remember, RA said he had injured himself so he was in pain during the audition. Poor guy.

  12. Just as well I don’t own any apple device, otherwise I’d be hopeless resisting the download option after hearing that the audition material is on there – thanks for letting us know Servetus. Will have to stick with my amazon pre order.

On another note, have just finished re reading The Hobbit, which I haven’t read since I was 15yrs. Was surprised how much I enjoyed it, despite the style pitched at a junior audience. Reading it has only sharpened my anticipation for the EE and DOS, not assuaged it. Dammit.

        • I think you’ll find a lot of it on Tumblr and Facebook over the next few days.Certainly the Richard Armitage parts. But …. And if you chose to download, give yourself a few hours to get it going. Also, if you have the option, download the extras first ( see upper right hand corner of screen where it says ITunes extras).

    • They’re at the upper left hand corner of your iTunes browser. After the title and the year 2013, you’ll see “Play iTunes extras” – that’s what you need to click to access the extras.

  14. Yes, as I said to blogging friend- Lucas North auditioned. I thought he said he auditioned for a different dwarf ( they all auditioned for the same one), but the clip we saw were Thorin’s lines. Does anyone remember what happened?

    • He went thinking to read for Bard, I think. But they asked him to read for Thorin. And G*d bless them for their choice. As Philippa says: they got their guy.

        • Yes, I downloaded it! It took more than 5 hours but it’s worth the time and the money. Actually watching, fangirling, crying, and getting moved & excited (about the movie, what were you thinking about?) all together. Trying to understand how to play the files out of iTunes and split them in short videos. Multitasking micra getting crazy… 😛

          • Let me know if you figure that out. I have limited ability. My sound keeps unsynching with the picture. It took me about an hour for each to download, but then there was a glitch with the extras which fixed itself after I spent another hour trying to get tech support.

            • oh dear, nothing is simple, ever… I promise I’ll try and do my best, but I’m not a tech wizard myself 😦 Learned by trying 😉
