Well, they don’t seem to think it sucks and blows! (sorry, can’t resist)! 😉

….but, besides the action…..???? I’ve to confess, that I’m still not sure about how I possibly ‘survive’ this expectedly incredibly noisy movie! Ahemmm…

I’m happy just because I’m sure I’ll be able to see it in my hometown cinema. I almost don’t care about the rest, lol 🙂

One thing you have to remember is how this was advertised and then to whom it was shown. Austin, TX is a town that has pretentions to being a hipster paradise and a place where the 18-34 crowd’s taste determines the market for anything. That’s the target audience for a film like this, and that’s who’s going to the preview. Not Armitage fans per se — people who are known to like summer action / adventure flicks on the big screen. And those are the people who are going to make the film successful.

You’re right, I’m absolutely aware of that. I know, I’m no longer the target audience. I’ve spent sufficient money (..and I tell you, it was a lot!!!) in cinemas over the years (“Der Mohr hat seine Schuldigkeit getan, der Mohr kann gehen!” (The Moor has done his duty, the Moor can go). Ok, ok, quoting Schiller here, in the eye of the tornado is slightly ridiculous!!! 😛 )
It’s just me and my insignificant wish/dream to finally see a new film with RA, which I’m physically and psychically 😀 able to watch more than once (mmh.. I’ve seen the “Hobbits” several times, still…nothing to warm my heart really, really…)
Richard, the summer action hero… Wonder if he had any ideas about that when he signed the contract. Probably it was his dream… 😉

who knows — I always assume this was something he got from Warner Bros in the contract negotiations about a third Hobbit film.

Thanks for the link to the reviews. As you say, action fans are the ones needed to make this film a hit, so good news for RA if this audience likes it.

I just love it when reviews say ‘way better’ and then…no explanation as to why. So, it’s better than Twister. In what? CGI? Plot? Hot actors? 😛

Good question. How about “all of the above”?

Thanks for reblogging. Someone asked me if I thought the reviews are honest. I wouldn’t have posted if I thought otherwise. GoFobo sends the review link to people who attended in Austin. (I got such an email following the fan event. ) The 4 star review came from a first time reviewer. The reviewer with 25 gave a lot of 4 and 5 stars to films but wasn’t shy about criticizing a few bad ones either.

They are self-selecting in that probably they invite people based on what they perceive as their likelihood to enjoy the film, period, but I didn’t see any reason to think they were faked or planted or anything.
