  4. I’m just so excited for him! The prestige of this role and venue. He must be thrilled and honored. Hope mum goes to opening night. 🙂

    • if you were his family could you stay away? Although in my imagination I have him telling them to come on a less crowded, chaotic night so he can take some time with them …

      • I agree with you Trudy, This is a much deserved prestige role and project for Richard Armitage.

And RA’s family could do both! Attend the dress rehearsal or previews and then come Opening Night!

      • Been thinking of how proud his mum must be, too. It would be torturous not to go the first night! But oh so crazy…
Can’t wait to hear the critics’ reviews. Has Richard ever not delivered?

        • I think it would be fun for the parentals to come for press night actually – it’s kind of the official launch of the play and is a celebratory occasion with guests and cameras, etc… (Jeremy Irons can be seen mingling in the Old Vic press night footage for ‘Other Desert Cities’ – he there as ‘hubby’ to support Sinead Cusack) 😉

          • I wonder if his parents want to meet all those people?

            • I think Armitage family members have been to other red carpet events and the Old Vic would be rather tame in comparison. Also I’m not sure if they’d need to ‘meet’ anyone else … merely speaking to the celebratory mood that will be set by the day…

        • I think that will be a landmark thing for him either way — he said before N&S that he’d never had a review, and I think it still must be true that he’s never had a theater review?

  7. I’m sure he would be thrilled to have his parents there. This is a very important part of his life, a dream fulfilled, but he’ll leave it to them to decide.
