  4. Good man!
And damn – I wanted to reply to Agzy on Twitter and cheer her on in real time, but I have forgotten my login. 😦 Can’t wait to hear more of her Crucible experience…

    • it sounded like she was stealing wifi — so I’m imagining the details will come out on blog when she gets home.

  5. A blond question: what do they look like, that one can tell the difference?

    • I’m blond too and I had the same question lol!

    • They usually have multiple items and containers to hold them (i.e., not just the poster, but the tube, as well); frequently but not always they’re male. There’s a good picture of a couple of them in one of the press night selfies — medium sized guy, blue coat, baseball cap, and postal tube.

  6. How awesome of him!

    • This is something he does because he appreciates his fans and their support–more power to him.

  7. Well they probably don’t look quite like the fans that he is familiar with and possibly he recognized them from somewhere else. Good for him. He puts himself out for his fans and stands there until the last one is done but he isn’t there to be used to make money. If it were going to charity I’m sure he would feel different but he knows that it isn’t for that.

  9. Aren’t they usually the slightly sweaty, bit on the large side, male variety, armed with numerous things to sign?

  10. I was horrified when I first saw that video (in real time) at how polite RA was to those autograph goons — even thanking them! I thought, “No, NO, you are allowed to say ‘no’ to some people.” I’m glad to see he has wised up since then! (And as a proudly aggressive-when-I-need-to-be New Yorker, I attribute it to him picking up some chutzpah since he moved to New York.)

  11. Just to say – there is a trick some actors, etc, use when approached by someone who they think is probably an autograph re-seller, which is to sign it, but ask for the person’s name. It’s much harder to get a good price on an autographed item if it’s personalised ‘To XYZ’ on it.

  12. I was in the stage door queue last night, 7 July, and saw at least one group autograph hunters join the queue. They were three young men clutching their folders full of pictures and it was so obvious why they were there. I was tempted to ask them if they had enjoyed the performance but thought better of it, not wanting either a barrage of abuse or a smack in the teeth!

I loathe these people because they often spoil the enjoyment of the real fans with their bullying tactics, though those last night were well-behaved. I’m absolutely delighted that RA declined to sign any of their pictures.

    • I can’t bring myself to loathe them because of this, myself, but I’m obviously happy if he ignores them.

  13. Well done Richard. 🙂

It’s disrespectful to make money on someone’s back. If it’s for charities, it’s ok, but this time, it’s obvious that it’s not. 😦
