Christ the King / Eternity Sunday

Germany’s awake a few hours ahead of the U.S. East Coast, and as usual, Herba’s written something precisely perfect for the day (my translation here). That’s just it — I thought, saying “I think of her everyday” is nonsense, until I notice that I do. I need badly to delete Mom’s facebook profile, but I noticed again this year on her birthday how many other people are still thinking of her — when the software alerts them that it would have been this week. At least I am not the only one.

Below is one of mom’s favorite hymns for the last Sunday of the church year. There’s a certain historical / theological irony to the fact that many LC-MS congregations call this day Totenfest or Eternity Sunday, but I think I’ll spare us all that discussion. I’m sure you spend all your time singing now, mom, and I’m guessing that your tin ear isn’t bothering you or anyone else anymore.
