You thought you had problems with the Crucible on screen download?

Check out Stacks and Ranges, part 1 and part 2. I’m worried the video can’t possibly make up for all of this!

  1. oh but i’m sure it will 🙂 and the pain will make the satisfaction even bigger ( i hope!) Just hope those downloads are working.. i’m still patiently holding off so everyone who hasn’t seen it at all yet can get a foot in first. I’ve got a few days off in less than 2 weeks time and i’m going to hold off until then when i have proper time to binge watch 🙂

    • IKR? I want to watch it like 3x in a row. Which would take a whole day, basically 🙂

      • i know 🙂 i’m actually thinking something else – my TV is not from the HDMI era, my personal laptop has a tiny screen and i can’t install DT player on my work one so it’s not ideal conditions to watch the video. I will of course get it, but at the moment i wouldn’t get more out of it than if it was on utube. So i am actually thinking of going back to the cinema one more time 🙂 You wouldn’t believe how popular it still is here! Barbican is showing it end of March and i went to look for tickets yesterday and it said sold out! Grrr and then i realised… one screen has sold out.. so they put in on in a 2nd one! and that is nearly sold out too!!!!! :-))) And that at £20 a pop which is quite hefty. I’m still debating but i think i may just treat myself to a #onelasttime. I loved seeing it undisturbed, uninterrupted in a dark room with a big screen and i can never get enough Proctor fixes, i think it is turning out to be my drug of choice 🙂

        • If I’m going to have to watch Hannibal in original broadcast, I’m going to have to get a TV anyway, unfortunately … I’m going to have to think about this. Another thing I swore I would never do (buy another television). Maybe I can find a used one.

  2. I downloaded last night when I got home from work, about 8:30 pm ….It took about 40 minutes, but I also bought the HD version, so it took a bit longer…..It’s incredible ! Mr. Armitage was magnificent

  3. Considering the number of complaints in my PM at Tumblr over problems and inabilities to download and seeing other people’s problems with slow downloads and such, I am more resolved than ever to NOT BOTHER! I hate it. I love Richard and would love to have seen him in this, but after my go rounds with Digital just to unsub from their emails (they’ve never contacted me after I wrote them and it’s been 10 days) I just…. meh.

And NO! I’m not going to see the other version IF it’s ever done.

(Before anyone calls me a Grumpy Gus, I have had chocolate and peanut butter buckeyes so I’m a rather happy camper right now.)

  4. Very sorry for this person! I knew the download would take too long, and seeking instant gratification after waiting this long to see it, treated myself to the rental last night (will do the download when I have time). Immediate access, problem-free, money well-spent. Only downer was that after watching the whole thing it was late and afterward I had terrible insomnia as my brain went into overdrive trying to process it all when I needed to be asleep!

    • yeah. I didn’t sleep all that soundly when I was seeing it in person, it always left me tense as heck, and I do NOT know how they didn’t go crazy while performing it, how you sleep after doing that. Even if you’re physically exhausted, the emotional turmoil was non-negligible.

  5. Guess I was quite lucky. Tried the download in the afternoon and it was super slow but it did download. Then downloaded it to my daughter’s computer later in the evening so we could watch it on the TV.( My HDMI doesn’t work) Had no problems and it didn’t take long considering the size of the file. Stayed up super late watching it. It was worth it all!

  6. I haven’t downloaded it yet. Does it come with English subtitles?

    Like

    • Yes, there are English subtitles, though they are not synchronized with the scenes (on my SD file). However I saw on Twitter another fan had first the same issue and it was resolved by emailing the DT website. I did too and I’m trying to be patient. 🙂

  7. I tried to video stream it. At home, it doesn’t work. At work, it works like a charm, but I only got to see the first hour because…I’m at work. They sort of expect me to be productive. Now back home, and video stream plays the audio but not the picture. Sigh. The apple app is worthless. It doesn’t work at all. What I wouldn’t give for a good old fashioned DVD right about now.

The first hour that I did manage to see was absolutely brilliant. I mean the whole damn cast! It’s like watching all of humanity train wreck before your eyes! You don’t want to watch, but you can’t turn away.

    • Thanks for the comment and welcome.

re: work — when I was streaming it during lunch I was always very careful to turn it off just at the end of the hour because yeah, productivity and responsbility and all.

Good to know Apple app doesn’t work, because I have a MacBook (I haven’t bought my copy yet).

I think the first half of the play was truly masterfully done.

  8. I’ve downloaded it (took 4+ hours), but I haven’t watched it yet. It’s on my MacBook – if it doesn’t work, Digital will be hearing from me (again — already fussed about how long it took to download). Seriously, it shouldn’t take that long to download.

  9. Well, I downloaded both the interview and the film without any problems. It did take time: 3 h for the interview and 6 h for the film but I knew it would so was patient. And I’ve already watched both and DT player worked smoothly without any problems. Oh, and I’m from Moscow, the right place to see The Crucible.

  10. I have just downloaded the interview as a practise run for the play and it went very well, downloaded in 10 minutes only. It brought back lovely memories of seeing the live event, Richard is superb.

  11. I had problems in downloading the DT Desktop Player and it took me two days to understand that it was due to some compatibility issue between my laptop and their software… I needed to borrow my hubby’s laptop and I could download and install the player as well as download the play without problems. It was quite quick, too, because it took about one hour and a half / two hours for the whole process. Nonetheless, over those two days of frustrating install/disintall procedure, trying to figure out what was going wrong, I opened an assistance ticket with DT customer support and they promptly replied and suggested me some steps to take to try and solve the matter. Now that I know where the “bug” was, I wrote back to tell them to close my request and do not waste energies in further investigations. Now I can’t wait to have my 3 hrs of peace and enjoy the play.

  12. Finally got the player to work and the download took about 30 minutes. (YAY!) Waiting until I have a large block of time to really enjoy the play, hopefully after work tomorrow.

  13. I started downloading “The Crucible” in HD 3.5 hrs ago. It is now at 31%. But I am hopeful that it continues to download without incident as I head to bed.
