  1. It is, isn’t it? 😉 I was literally nodding off at the computer and can’t remember who originally posted it . . . and then suddenly was wide awake and went to work on video editing for PRP. A big night, really happy for him. 😀

    • I guess you sum it up nicely. Despite division in the camp for whatever reason, we all appreciate him very much and all rejoice when he rejoices. Why can’t we learn to respect and learn from each other’s difference of opinion on certain matters concerning RA and focus on what we all have in common: we “love” this man and wish him well, don’t we?

      • Actually, the problem is that everyone keeps insisting that we focus on “loving” this man, when everyone has a different idea of what that means and everyone is comfortable with a differing level of disagreement or criticism. Then when someone says something critical, someone else says, “why can’t you focus on loving Richard”? Some people’s love isn’t good enough for other people. My suggestion: Let everyone do, feel, think, write what they want.

        • Thanks Servetus for letting me express myself. I know that’s a given as you are someone who likes to say what they like and be granted the liberty to do so, which I do. You are preaching to the choir, but yeah I totally agree with you. I do think though that it is possible to love someone and appreciate them and at the same time express an opinion that is “contrary” as he put it or be critical. After all, isn’t that what love is? I am not a lap dog to the people I love in my life. If I see something I disagree with I say it BECAUSE I love them. They are the same with me. Thank God for critical people, otherwise we would all be on our own pedestals not being able to see out of our own …..I am still reading poisonous things said behind my back to others (none of who know me personally) because I expressed my dislike of Hannibal. Since then, I’ve become a target of their hatred and some are even targeting people who followed me and turning them against me, but hey I am not going to shut up and give away my freedom of speech. I am not saying: Why can’t we focus on loving Richard? I am saying: it is healthy to express conflicting opinions. My goodness, otherwise we would all be so immature and egocentric. I am saying I recognise there are things Richard has said and done lately which do not fit in with my idea of who I thought he is, BUT I still love him perhaps more than before because he is no longer trying to be “perfect” or to always say what we want to hear and do what we expect of him. I am saying clearly we all love the essence of who he is, what is at the core, otherwise we wouldn’t be here discussing these issues at length, so wouldn’t it be nice to be able to express our differences of opinion without having our heads bitten off and then celebrate what we ALL love about him which is far, far more than what some of us dislike? Got a feeling he may have woken up with a slight sore head yesterday! 🙂

          • Huh, I have the impression he’s saying exactly what fans want to hear / expect him to say, at least as much as he ever has, while he’s leaving vital things unsaid. But whatever.

I don’t think we agree on “the essence, what is at the core.” I know my picture of that is substantially different from anyone who heavily embraces the “virtuous Armitage” idea. I don’t think there is one thing that we “ALL love.” That’s precisely the problem.

            • Perhaps the core of who he is lies in what he is not saying more than in what he says! but fair enough, so let’s agree to disagree and move on. A beautiful cyber friend said to me this morning, “it is nice to discuss things. We learn from others who have different perspectives because through that process either our beliefs change or we better understand why we hold them in the first place, and both these outcomes are very valuable. Have a great day and keep these wonderful discussion forums coming. I am certainly learning a lot from them and I find them humbling too as they make me realise I don’t have all the answers, far from it.

  2. Looks like everyone had a really good time. I can’t believe he won an award for Thorin. I am so happy for him I feel like I won something myself. Maybe the well-wishers deserve the best supporting fandom award.

    • It’s possible, given the levels to which his fans have clicked, nominated, tweeted and prayed over the years …
