What drama school gets you, or: watch how Richard Armitage enunciates
Here’s he’s proclaiming “Iracebeth! Enough!”
“I —
–ra–
–sa– (‘ce’)
–be–
–th!–
“E —
–n–
–ou–
–gh!” (I love what his lips do with this consonant, the labiodental fricative).
I can almost hear it.

This is literally one second of the film. It was worth it for me, but just be aware.

🙂 I’m actually willing to sit through the whole film no matter how short a time he is on the screen. He’s worth it 😉

He was in the movie so briefly, but both times so freaking good omg…

Seriously. He had his Proctor voice on and I love that theatrical declamation. Sigh.

Just thinking this might be the last chance to hear Armitage speaking British… maybe I will reconsider my resistance to the film 😉

Don’t you think he’ll always speak it in interviews? But don’t let me dissuade you from seeing the film.

I wasn’t entirely serious about that – of course we’ll hear his real accent in interviews. Just trying to find an excuse to justify watching the film 😉

It was hard to set my player slow enough to be able to differentiate the mouth movements.

I liked the film, it was much better than I expected. Lots of the roles were small so it made RA’s role more acceptable. He looked so much like John Procter.

That’s a good point — he actually had a bigger role than Stephen Fry!

Anyone who every questions RA’s appeal should consider that all these people are going to see this movie just because of a few minutes cameo. I don’t know too many actors that have that kind of draw!

I think we’re a drop in the bucket, though. The film did half the business it was supposed to do this last weekend.

I can hear him so clearly. It reminds me of how slowly he enunciated the words to Bilbo “I will not part with a single coin. Not one piece of it.” And the dwarves marched by armed for battle.

for someone with thin lips he gets a lot of mileage out of them 🙂 speaking and kissing 🙂
