Richard Armitage and spy story tropes #3 — the taxi
So — I was thinking about whether is really the way a spy would go to the U.S. Embassy (assuming that the CIA has its station at the embassy, which is kind of questionable, but that seems to be what the story is telling us, because the location of the embassy since 2008 is right behind the Brandenburg Gate). It seems kind of obvious, but it does set the scene.
Random note — before the embassy moved, I used to run into a lot of embassy people at my favorite sushi place in Mitte, Ishin sushi in the Mittelstr., which was close to the old embassy location. I assume that the sushi is still good. There’s a mega-bookstore across the street, too.
Obviously Moscow is a more tense taxi ride for your average spy from “the West.”
