Menacing: 10 years of Richard Armitage as Guy of Gisborne

He could be so evil at times, that I wondered where Richard Armitage drew from in making his cruelty looking so convincing. In this scene, he’s insisting that Marian beg — and about to torch her house anyway.

  1. maybe Mr. Richard Armitage took all the teasing, name calling , bullying that he had to endure all his life and had to keep it buried inside himself and when the role of Guy of Gisborne came around, Mr. Richard Armitage decide this role would be perfect to get all the teasing/bullying out of him and put it in the character and when Guy was doing or saying evil things maybe in Mr. Richard Armitage’s mind he was imagining that it was the bullies and that he was finally getting his revenge.

  2. He can look at me like that any time!🙂

  3. OMG, talk about dysfunctional — it would be a relationship where you’d pick a fight to get him to stare at you menacingly, lol. “Go ahead, burn down my house, babe, just keep looking at me.”

    • Um, ok. Just don’t run me through with a sword at the end…and no in real life I would never put up with a dysfunctional relationship.

  4. from himself?

  5. Any idea why the spelling changed from Gisbourne to Gisborne between the credits of episode 1 and the credits of episode 2? Just noticed that.

  6. I have to admit this is one of my fave scenes from the whole show.

  7. oh i did hate him at that point and could not see what people were so mesmerised… needless to say i came round😉

    • I’ve only ever met one fan who was able to maintain her initial standpoint that he was a skank — Mulubinba — and I am not sure if she ever finished watching the show. Everyone else eventually comes around. Although I remember blogging about this early on and hearing a lot of stuff on another board about how I was blind for not seeing how he had hidden kindness at the beginning of the show. I really did not see that.
