This is one of the best scenes in the film.

  1. I agree. As for the post below, I don’t recall that background, nor remember him wearing that suit in the film.

    • I don’t have a clear memory of it either — maybe it’s a deleted scene, or maybe it’s from that very quick series at the end where they are showing her recovery.

  2. Here she looks like she’s deteriorating quickly.
The parents were divorced, no? So, this is the stepmom?

    • yeah. This is shortly before she’s committed. That’s the stepmom, who comes in for a lot of abuse. What they caught perfectly in the scene was the tension Tom feels between the family politics (she has made a special dinner for Susannah) and his increasing awareness that his daughter is truly ill. You see him stepping out onto one path of dealing with the problem and then realizing he’s completely mistaken.

  3. Have you seen the movie? If so, where do I find it?

    • I saw it at TIFF. I think it’s playing in Taiwan starting tomorrow, though. Still no news on when it will appear on Netflix.

  4. love that hand gesture and i can almost hear his calming voice – or at least that is what the picture suggests to me 🙂 Really hoping the timid distribution news will create a bit of a wave and we may get to see this…

    • Yeah. One thing this film definitely communicates is that Armitage knows how to play a loving father.

  5. Am looking out for it on Netflix, as soon as I see any sign will let you know, however, you are usually so far ahead, I won’t need to 🙂 Ahhh, the comforting father in action…yes!
