London will not allow the terrorists to win, I am going to London tomorrow and again on Friday to see Salome at the National theatre. So many of those killed and injured were from abroad. my heart goes out to them and their families.

I don’t even know what to say. I admired Sadiq Khan’s remarks. I apologize to anyone who’s reading for the nasty remarks by the U.S. President. I hope everyone stays as safe as possible.

I’m still shaken today, although that has something to do with what the president is tweeting. Glad that London seems to have things under control. I have two US friends who are there at the moment and they both said you’d never know anything was different other than that peoplea re shaken.

The only thing that makes me sadder and more horrified than London and Manchester is that this obnoxious waste of skin is still our president.

It’s all so gratuitous and inexplicable — since when are a president’s remarks all about him as opposed to the victims? Like they don’t know what they’re doing in London, where they’ve had terrorist attacks since the 1970s at least? Like Sadiq Khan has some obligation to stop his actual work and respond to the US president in the middle of a crisis? As usual for our president, it’s all about him, all the time. That was my first interpretation anyway. Then I read this article, and it made a lot of sense to me. DJT’s whole track record with Khan has been a series of implications that Khan is “less than,” someone we’d make an exception for if there were a general Muslim ban, etc., and it makes sense that his audience for all this is really Muslims in the US and those who hate them. https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2017/06/trump-american-exceptionalism/529119/?utm_source=feed

I can imagine (and I have heard that from two others now).
I hate that any law-abiding citizen of any religion might feel frightened by our leaders — and particularly by things they say intentionally. It really has to stop. (I have as much power to enforce that as Theresa May does, I guess)
