  1. I feel like he possibly breaks out the dad jokes for his costars once in a while…And I’m sure they’re gloriously cheesy!

    • if you believe him, he can’t tell a joke anyway. (I find this sympathetic as I have the same problem.)

      • Oh, you’re right! I forgot about that interview he did with Martin Freeman, saying the only joke he knew was about the blonde walking into a bar. I dunno, I think he’s probably funnier than he realizes. Sometimes I think he comes across as really lacking in self-confidence. With his looks, talent, and everything else about him, you’d think he’d be a little more confident in himself! And I don’t think it’s false modesty, it seems sincere. Maybe he just needs more practice with joking. I’d be happy to let him practice with me…!!

        • It kind of fits with what he said about not being a “performer” but preferring to be observed — joke telling is definitely a performance art.

          re: self-confidence — I think it’s the British factor / emphasis on being modest.
