RIP Sue Grafton and Kinsey Millhone

Here.

I discovered these books about the same time I discovered Sara Paretsky. Both Kinsey Millhone (the star of Grafton’s novels) and V.I. Warshawski (Paretsky’s creation) were women after my own heart, like women I aspired to be, and very different from the picture of femininity I grew up with. I lost my attention to Millhone somewhat as Grafton chose to keep her in the 1980s (I assume because it was hard to keep up with the rapidly advancing science behind crime detection), but I still read them, even if not the second they came out.

A truly inspiring author.

  1. I heard about Grafton’s passing too. Felt sad because I love her books (Kinsey Millhone! ) ….
