  1. I shouldn’t have read this – I just bought a Macbeth DVD.

  2. Rebecca Erbelding’s piece is interesting. People do tend to want things to be black or white, but few things really ever are.

I’ve never had an urge to write a fan letter, even though I’ve been an avid admirer of various singers, actors, writers. How cool, though, for a kid to get a response from Brian Jacques. There was an excellent cartoon series of Redwall that got my older son and I interested in the books. I can’t imagine reading all the negative letters/emails that someone putting their works out in public must receive. I have a hard enough time with evaluations when I’ve lead a workshop!

Thanks for linking to my post on The Martian Invasion.

    • It’s one reason I’ve stayed away from Tattooist, although I did buy it. I think I don’t have the energy just now to deal with all of the generic problems that typically appears in this stuff.

I imagine the reading of fan letters as excruciating, frankly. I wrote Hilary Mantel one. It must be neat to get a response when you’re a kid, though. What I notice from social media is that fans make celebs responsible for all kinds of things that really aren’t their fault. That has to be aggravating.
