Richard Armitage tangentially related
Current projects:
- (Ocean’s 8): Summer box office predictions for Ocean’s 8 opening are out. It depends on who you believe, but I’ve seen a range from $30M for opening weekend to $45M for opening weekend (in the U.S.). Apparently the former would make it a disappointment (linking to an article about how, although this film cost significantly less to make than the Clooney-fronted earlier films, it constitutes a huge risk) while the latter would be better than those films. This article is also interesting. The film doesn’t seem to have turned into the troll target that the Ghostbusters reboot became, but it can’t escape comparisons to that film no matter what it does.
- ETA: and here’s a delightfully snarky piece from Forbes arguing that the audience that tanked Ghostbusters is irrelevant to O8.
- (Ocean’s 8): Times Square is now covered in Ocean’s 8 bling.
- (Berlin Station): After posting its Q1 earnings reports, MGM announced that it plans to pump more energy and money into EPIX, with new scripted programming. One of these is reported to be a new Batman prequel story.

Collateral attractions:
- David Hewson (Hamlet, Romeo & Juliet) says he has a new audiobook project coming out later this year that’s so secret he can’t talk about it. Hmmm.
- Interesting article on what the IT kids are up to next; Jaeden Lieberher is one of Armitage’s colleagues in The Lodge.
