Richard Armitage tangentially related
Ocean’s 8:
- Mindy Kaling comments on the strangest question she’s been asked so far on the press tour. This is up there with the reporter who asked whether they have Internet in New Zealand.
- How do you get makeup done for eight celebs who can’t be wearing the same lipstick color? Here‘s an article. I had to laugh about this. Richard Armitage was probably really glad about the O8 makeup, compared to his experiences on The Hobbit.
- Cartier is exhibiting some of the jewels and costumes from the film in its Manhattan boutique.
Past projects:
- Here‘s a new review of Urban and the Shed Crew. Very positive, but hard to take seriously, as the author is the same one who wrote a sycophantically positive review of Pilgrimage last year. She has a production company and I’m guessing she has some irons in the fire.
Collateral attractions / degrees of separation:
- Armitage worked with Keith Allen on Robin Hood. Allen is Lily Allen’s father, and Armitage recommended her debut album to fans back in 2006. She’s got a new one out after a rough decade, and there’s a fascinating interview with her here.
Social media:
- This week, a U.S. judge made a declaratory judgment that the current U.S. president’s decision to block hostile uses constitutes a First Amendment violation. More analysis of this decision here.
Lily Allen sounds like she’s had a hard time of it. I hear she has a book coming out in the fall about her experiences.
The whole Twitter ruling is so interesting. I wonder if it will hold up on appeal. Sounds like a well-thought-out argument.

The way the judge ruled suggested that she thought there would be further litigation. I wonder if the modalities of contacting the White House affected the decision at all, insofar as the administration has done its best in the last year and a half to prevent people from contacting them.
Allen: yes.
