Richard Armitage tangentially related
Ocean’s 8:
- Very early (negative) review that shows clear signs of misogyny / homophobia. I hope this isn’t going to be the standard.
- Long discussion in an Australian outlet about heist films.
- There’s been a fair amount of comparison of the film, in the Indian press, to a forthcoming film called Veere di Wedding. Here’s one of many articles on the topic.
Collateral attractions / degrees of separation:
- Advance rehearsal pictures of Aidan Turner’s new play, the revival of The Lieutenant of Inishmore. He looks great. Maybe I can still lust after him secondarily despite his fake tabloid fiancée. But the ticket prices are: gulp.
Industry issues:
- Fans wanted Armitage for young Dumbledore in Fantastic Beasts. Now the role is coming under fire for not sufficiently representing Rowling’s retrospective painting of the wizard as gay.
Stuff we’ve talked about:
Ocean’s 8 review: the reviewer in the first one is … oh, I can’t use that kind of language here. Just sayin’, hubby and I are excitedly awaiting June 8th to go see this movie.
Aidan Turner: I’d say secondarily lusting is justified. blush

Apparently the Times of London had a picture of him this morning topless again — Poldark 4 is starting up soon again there.

it’s a bit insane, how good he’s looking here. The strategy must different in the UK — in the US they go to the gym first and learn how to act later, whereas he seems to have done the opposite. But wow, trapezoids visible under t-shirt. He says he doesn’t like the gym but he must spend a lot of time there.

[…] Servetus posted a link an early, and negative, review for the newest installment of the Ocean’s movie franchise (with hopes that it isn’t a trend). Aside from sounding like he went into the viewing with a negative viewpoint already written, the review makes me wonder if he saw any of the other Ocean’s movies. Granted, I enjoy the franchise and have seen the other movies many times. What I’ve seen so far in the trailers follows the plot strategy in each of the others quite well. (MHO) […]
