  4. Oh I do love those pictures. Wishing I had my arm around him instead. Following up on an earlier conversation, it really looks to me like that is not his actual hair on top there. Some sort of hair appliance at the crown at the back, I think.

  5. Okay, got be honest; want to say something positive but I am challenged. Michelle has her history and Richard is vulnerable; let’s hope this doesn’t get messy. And I apologize to you if this doesn’t get posted, just a gut feeling.

    • I’m with you. I went eeeww when I saw this like a fly in a spider’s web was my gut feeling. I think he was definitely into Henry all the way here. I noticed he didn’t use her to keep himself balanced and there are a series of pics and one he is looking directly at whoever is taking the picture and I was thinking he was thinking “Help me!” (??) What I thought was weird was her overt FAWNING in her comments. Yes they are sweet but she could have privately said those things to him or not in such grand fashion. In contrast, Mina’s IG was so cute and her hastags keinewerbung and nurquatsch were appropriate and light-hearted.

      • I think I just don’t “get” her. Also, I wonder what she means by “purity” (this is a word that triggers a lot of unpleasant political and historical associations for me). I think she just really likes attention and she knows this is a way to get it. The pictures are cute. Aside from being German (i.e., typically more restrained) Tander is married (I believe) so no matter what she probably wouldn’t make this kind of display.

        • I quite honestly found it weird..I agree why use such a word like purity but I’m happy he doted on Henry and she did write Uncle Rich instead of “daddy Rich” (😱🤐) I’m just glad I wasn’t the only person to feel a bit ugh about her post. I’ll give her this she sticks to what she believes and I respect her a lot for that esp when some (hmm) seem to waffle around a bit
          w tweeters regret.

            • Yeah my impression of her is she has no filter
and maybe he did something incredibly nice for her like babysat Henry or something that
touched her and that was her way of saying
thanks. I did go back thru your related posts
and saw her vegan post about him “almost vegan” from 2016 which was even weirder
like who writes that about somebody else
esp somebody like him who is uber
              private.

As I always say I tend to hate reformed anythings lol vegans, non smokers, vegetarians, as both a former smoker and I am vegetarian.. the last think I ever do is try to shove my views down someones throat. They make their own decisions, I stay out of it. Personally the comment is bizarre in some respects but I must admit I do even Henry and I love Uncle Rich. Any person who loves animals is a good person in my book.

    • I have no doubt she regards Henry as her
child and is 100% sincere in her love for her
dog. I have 3 doggies and would take a
bullet for all 3 of them. I think her touchy
feelyness in her words and actions just were
my ick factor. I’m in total agreement eat whatever you want to eat or don’t eat just dont get preachy about it!

  8. I’m sorry – I have scrolled through this thread several times and vowed not to bite but I just can’t help myself..

I just don’t understand why there is so much antipathy towards MF. She might not be my cup of tea either but a lot of actors aren’t. She seems to really like RA ( more confirmation to me that he is a decent human being if his co stars like him), she loves animals and demonstrates that by choosing not to eat them. What is so wrong with that?

I don’t follow her closely – I don’t know her ‘history’ and I don’t really want to. But it feels like she is being portrayed as some creepy old woman preying on a vulnerable boy. He’s a 46 year old man and despite knowing his mother has recently died, we have no evidence he is In any way vulnerable. As has been said many many times on this blog, RA has survived for over 20 years in a very difficult profession and if he wasn’t resilient he wouldn’t have survived. And if he chooses to socialise with her, could it be possible that MF is actually quite a nice person?

    • This is my opinion, which I’ve articulated a few times now: I find her to be a good actor, I find her Twitter persona deeply distasteful ( https://meandrichard.wordpress.com/2016/02/29/prelude-when-i-dont-like-an-actor-more-musings-on-the-dealbreaker/ ), such that if she’s remotely like her social media, I would avoid her like the plague IRL. It’s not choosing not to eat animals that’s an issue — it’s her religion that anyone else who eats them or interacts with them in ways that she doesn’t personaly approve of is evil that’s the problem, and the unethical way she expresses that (e.g., publicly urging the harassment of people who run the NYC bloodbank and getting her costars involved in that; posting animal snuff vids in her Twitter feed). She also uses Henry (as we have discussed elsewhere) in ways that are marginally unethical according to her own articulated standards (putting him on a very long transatlantic flight that would be hard on a human, let alone a dog). It looks an awful lot like she broke the airline rules about service animals — this is a big issue in the US right now because airlines often reserve service to actually disabled people with service animals, or transporting animals in ways detrimental to their health. It sticks in the craw of many people when a pet is apparently made into a service animal for convenience purposes when those who actually need service animals are so often denied access. Hence, my distaste for her personally. She certainly could be a nice person. However, to me, her Twitter persona suggests otherwise. Surely I and others are free to articulate that POV?

re: her relationship with Armitage: they genuinely seem to be friends (as I said above), and he’s an adult (as you point out, a position articulated here many times). I have no interface with his day to day life except through social media, so this is all the evidence I have to judge. Personally, if I had a friend who was notably and expressly averse to spreading personal information about his social life and RL relationships on social media, I’d refrain from doing it for him. (Just like if I thought a friend were vegan, I’d leave that up to him to publicize as opposed to insisting on it publicly.) I do not think any attraction she may feel toward him (friendly or otherwise) is creepy (I am attracted to him as well), nor do I feel he can’t protect himself if it is. Obviously whatever happens between them is up to them.

  9. I would like to add here if I may that I find the word antipathy really harsh. We have been discussing her Instagram pics only in relation to him and I had hesitated to state my opinion until another honest opinion had been posted which quite candidly was better worded than mine. My intent was not too be mean or hate on her just making some observations about her post and my view of it. I do not partake in Twitter or Instagram or FaceBook bec I find there is a lot of antipathy which is unnecessary and unfounded now. I love animals as do many of the commenters here probably do and I think Serv hit it right on the nail above. I was upset more that MF will take a stand on animals but then use Henry to bypass the system when it suits her.. that to me is hypercritical. I don’t think any commenter here including me would think of her as a “creepy old woman” when she is only 6 years older than him. I’m very attractive to him and I’m 4 years older than him. But yeah I thought the whole IG was a bit icky IN MY OPINION. I’m sure she’s a great source of comfort right now just as Mina is just as Julie Delpy was but neither of them blatantly use him for attention-that was my reference for spider/fly comment.

    • Just a postscript that I don’t read her social media anymore unless someone alerts me to Armitage’s appearance in them, so it’s fair enough to note that I don’t have the whole picture. (I do this mostly because I don’t want my negative opinion of her to influence my opinion of her work / the series, and also out of care for my blood pressure.)

      • Gotcha, I honestly only peruse her Instagram looking for sightings of him and I stumbled on the latest one thru #richardarmitage which admittedly I view daily now for scraps of info on BS3. I like Leland Orser’s Instagram bec he’s funny and he can’t keep a secret to save his life so it’s more my curiosity about the series and what is going on then anything else. I don’t think anyone has the whole picture about Richard which for me is part of the attraction. I enjoy the interaction here mainly for the diverse and honest comments you get and give more than anything else although you are a wealth of information about him and so many other topics. I wish he wasn’t on any social media but I’m in the minority on that. Take care of yourself nobody/nothing is worth your blood pressure going up for (outside of family).

  11. Like, this is an example of why Forbes is so irritating. I don’t troll her accounts — I just was trying to figure out whether the production had moved back to Berlin:

“Can’t capture the spectacularly specific & unique blue light that is dawn in this special, special place on this globe…but…wow…I’m so happy to be home. Been thinking a lot about freedom… as America & the rest of the world descends into a state of fascism under the guise & delusion that any of us are still living in democracies. How thoughts & feelings can be policed. How insidious it can be. How most political systems have failed. I don’t know that there’s anywhere safe in the world right now….truly safe & free… But I do know the calmness, civility, tolerance and freedom of this city has been hard won and will not die out before all others fail in the face of greed. It’s a hard won harmony of society that I’m always so fucking happy to return to and take a breath in. I really hope it lasts. #berlin #berlinisbeautiful #berliniloveyou #breathingagain ♥️♥️♥️”

Most political systems have failed? [incorrect]
“thoughts and feelings can be policed” [sorry, Michelle, who exactly is policing your thoughts and feelings?]
There’s nowhere safe and free in the world right now? [incorrect]
plus the whole thing about Berlin. Somehow she missed that the Berlin government is 25/160 seats AfD right now, I guess.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Berlin, but Germany is under severe threat right now. At the same time, it’s incorrect to say that the whole world (or even democracies) are fascist. If she were 20 I would put this down to youthful ignorance and idealism. But she’s roughly my age and she spews this crap.

  12. Well you and I share the same feelings about her. I think and this is MY OPINION only so please do not take this as snarkiness or
“hating on her”(which I don’t think any of these
intelligent kind hearted commentators do) she is living in a fucking fantasy world and clearly
she has not travelled enough to make such
    unsubstantiated and ignorant generalizations
about this entire planet. It’s easy to sit back and tweet and show your pretentious pics on IG (I’m finally learning some of the lingo😛)
and “act” but not do something proactive about it or show ways how you can get involved to help change what is happening in the U.S. I think she thinks in this glorified space of pseudo intellectualism that her words
are so profound. I am surprised that she responded quite a bit to some of the commentators on her IG. Again I only peruse
her IG for pics of Richard to see what he is up to. She didn’t even retweet his tweet about
the British govt going on holiday instead of staying to vote. The move to Berlin is interesting. #richard Armitage didn’t even seem to pick up on it.

          • Yeah well I think my opinion of MF would be better if I saw some tangible evidence that she puts her money where her mouth is so to speak such as like Clooney(Darfar, Sudan), Affleck (Congo), Jennifer Garner (public school education), Bette Midler(environment, public school education), Angelina (Syrian and Afghan refugees), Brad Pitt ( New Orleans mainly Katrina housing rebuilding). Except maybe Garner who stays pretty mum on political news, these other celebrities are quite vocal and have proactively shone a light on the topics that MF has expoused her views on. My dad has a saying “shit or get off the pot. “
