Relieved to hear that Dom Minghella is recovering

Here‘s a piece that Minghella wrote about the set back in 2006, with a nice comment about Armitage (this venue does have a limited amount of clicks per month), in that inimitable self-deprecating British style. In case you can’t get past the paywall:

Many of us had a theory about ten years ago that it was Minghella’s admiration for Armitage that gave us series 2 and 3 of the show with the more complex role for Guy.

Minghella’s piece about his recent experience in the hospital is written in a similar style and is worth the read.

    • Yeah — it was good read the account just because it describes what the whole “shortness of breath” thing is and how it manifests. I’m glad he’s feeling well enough to write about it.

  2. That’s a really powerful piece. Scary.

I hadn’t read the quote about working with Armitage before. Cute.

  3. Here (Denmark), the media and the public have been pressing authorities to get the number of people who have recovered from Covid-19. It took some time, but we now get this number along with the numbers of hospitalized, in IC, in life support and deceased.
I believe it is equally important to focus on those who make it through this. We need a glimmer of hope. Thankfully, DM made it.
It has long puzzled me why this virus targets men, middle-aged to elderly men. I know women get it too and also die from it, but the majority are men.
What hit me the most about DM’s account is the cynicism of some of the doctors. The hopelessness they experience and feel are transferred to the patients. Patients should feel taken care of, should feel the hope of recovery.
What a tragedy and all because wild animals are sold and butchered at open markets. I say, let’s put pressure on China and countries that have similar practices to ban this. Don’t buy their products, don’t trade with China or any country that practices this until tit is sorted and done with.
