Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free

As at least half a dozen people have said to me now, it’s the first time I’ve taken a deep breath in at least four years. Not over, but democracy may still be possible.

I got this a few months ago but haven’t used it till today. Never had a sweeter cup of coffee in my life.

And I can sing my nunc dimittis at least briefly on another issue that leaves me nothing less than overjoyed!

Kamala Harris for the people!

    • I’m finding lately if I want coffee I have to drink it before noon, or the consequences can be severe. Old age! But I enjoyed this cup. Thanks for your support.

Or on this planet at all.

    • I feel like this is Nixon squared. People were so angry about Ford pardoning him, but it moved the country as a whole onward. That said, the stuff we know Trump did is so much more criminal. I predict he will be caught up in state court for some time.

  4. Wonderful result. Let’s hope the next couple of months aren’t too crazy. I can’t imagine that Trump could actually bear to back away from the legal challenges he has started and concede defeat graciously.

    • My nerves are still so jangly, but it was nice not to have the election be one of the first three anxious thoughts I had in the morning for a change.

  8. double joy and relief, and my dad was well enough today eve to ask about it and be pleased about it, hopefully tomorrow a tiny step better too. Made me tearful to see people so happy, we really needed it in this crappy year, and after 4 difficult years even more. Good, very good.

  9. Prost! Das ist genau der Becher, um zu feiern. Congratulations. I can’t say how relieved I am. This is certainly a step towards a better future, from my perspective. Wisconsin went blue, right? I was following your state closely, thinking of you. I hope the processes of democracy can now move and there won’t be any resistance.

    • Very pleased at the final result just a bit concerned, I hope he is more robust than he looks

      • He doesn’t wear much makeup (in comparison to Trump). But I also think he has better personal habits than Trump does.

    • I did have some cidre before I went to bed, because I probably shouldn’t be drinking coffee in the afternoon anymore. But it was amazing coffee, lol.

Wisconsin went blue by about 20,000 votes, so outside the automatic recount margin. Even the former much-hated GOP governor of the state said it was probably too high of a margin to overcome in a recount.

  13. Yes, congratulations! It’s fantastic news, both that Trump is ousted and that Kamala Harris will be VP. I am sure there will be difficult times ahead and frustrated legislation but it is wonderful to enjoy the moment and just exhale. To think there will come a time when an appearance by Trump on the TV will not cause palpitations and high blood-pressure.

    • I guess one of his post-office plans is to start his own TV network. That said, last night was really nice. I enjoyed the speeches, the musical choices, and the fireworks!

  14. Americans will live difficult times under the government of this left-wing team that sells the conservative values won with so much struggle, pain and blood …. Unfortunately.

    • Oh, please. Joe Biden is about as left wing as a hot dog.

      • I love you so much Serv, but a need to tell you: Joe will not rule. It is nothing but a Trojan horse. It is only serving as a springboard to raise opportunists to power. Unfortunately…

        • Love you, too, but I don’t think you understand much about the US political situation. The Democrats didn’t win the Senate, and they lost seats in the House of Representative. No radical agenda is coming our way. Biden will be lucky if he can even get his own Cabinet members confirmed. American voted Trump out, but otherwise, the nation emphatically voted for further gridlock.

          • yeah: so we’re not going to have a left wing coup of some kind here. I’m really impatient with all the conspiracy thinking that is going on.

    • Seriously. His platform is slightly to the right of Richard Nixon’s in the 70s.
