At 2:42 a.m. central time

A joint session of the US Congress was finally able to certify the votes of the U.S. Electoral College. Biden / Harris are now finally elected. They only missed the deadline by 2 hours and 42 minutes.

What an awful day. Time for it to be over.

  1. It’s 2:50 am central time and I was going to check if the voting was complete. I’m glad it’s officially over, now hopefully I can get a few hours sleep

  2. What a day…
I discovered what happened earlier this morning and I just thought “ok, what we feared almost happened”. We were talking about it, a coup, here at home and how it might be or not.
But the photos I’ve seen are really unbelievable (those people saccaging offices in the Capitol and others wearing “civil war” sweat-shirts !).
    C’est très choquant.

  3. when people write the 25th, would Pence then take over the remaining days of Republican presidency? And would that be an improvement?
I hope for you that we hear of no more riots. I said: Good grief when Trump was elected, I’m speechless now.

    • Pence is an extreme conservative, but he’s not insane (e.g., he wouldn’t start a war with Iran just for fun). But I don’t think they will be able to push it through. They wouldn’t have the support in the House of Representatives (as we saw last night).
