Ladies, no wonder he looks tired – the Lorraine segment was filmed IN THE MORNING. And if you need to get to work in London, I presume you have to factor in a taxi ride etc… There have been a number of fan photos on tumblr, too. I spoke to one of the fans and the whole encounter sounded really nice. Sigh.
It looks like he was feverish… probably got some drugs to face the interview but felt miserable, poor thing. Hope he can rest and feel better very soon 🙂
For me Richard’s voice this morning sounded a bit like as if he has cought a cold. Yeah, and he really does look quite pale.
But, Servetus, didn’t he wear your (my) favourite boots?? 😉
I think you’re right, Linda60. Richard looks like he’s fighting a cold and sounded like it, too. In these pics at 400X, you can see how puffy and red his eyes are. Still, with the Thorin beard coming in and the open collar letting a little chest hair show, the poor dear still looks gorgeous.
Just had a closer re-watch of the interview and noticed that Richard was visibly swallowing hard a couple of times. Seems like a real sore throat.
Still Leigh, you are right. He nonetheless looked gorgeous (as you say, with an extra treat of chest hair for his devoted „hairy“ fans), although his eyes can be more radiant and lively (!).
It’s truly a pity that we didn’t get any significant new ideas from Richard and about his further plans, besides „The Hobbit“, from the two recent interview events. We’re always so full of hope….
I thought the same thing. Wasn’t the purpose of the interview more or less meant to be a plug for the DVD? Why not ask about the DVD extras, what people could expect to see to entice them to buy . . . something. I think RA is a bit tired of the VoD thing with her. Too polite to say so, of course, but she does bring it up in every interview. Lorraine is a charming lady (and not “old” in spite of what someone said LOL) but she does seem to have run out of things to ask RA.
Yeah. I thought there was a definite “annoyance” micro-expression there in response to that question, and he very much dodged answering the question of whether he’d want to do a sequel episode. (Which is fine with me, actually.)
The way he said “I knew you were going to ask me that” or “bring that up” can’t remember exact wording, something in the tone of it. Joking, but not joking, if you know what I mean. Definitely thought he wanted to move on to another topic. I really think if she ever interviews him again, she’d best leave out VoD unless he brings it up.
Oh ja. Now that you point it out. You’re totally right. They not even mentioned the DVD release with a single word! Weird. But if she would’ve run out of questions there would’ve been more than enough apparent ones…
I agree with the tired, jet lagged and possibly ill assessment, but after yesterday’s Twitter nonsense (and being back in the UK after a lengthy absence), I wouldn’t discount a few drinks with the lads last night either. (I felt like I needed a drink after the tweeting finally concluded and I didn’t have to actually DO anything!) And Jimmy and Andy don’t exactly seem like early to bed types!
I’m glad someone said this. I thought, “back in London after months in the USA and decided to celebrate a little.” In combination with a very early call for a morning show …
LOL I fear he’s reached the age when that kind of behavior, on top of jet lag, cold/allergy problems, etc., can tell on you pretty quickly. Twitter—-*groan.* I put coffee liqueur in my Coke yesterday because the whole drawn-out thing was driving ME to drink. And I can count on one hand the number of alcoholic drinks I’ve had in the past year! What a disastrous introduction to the Twitterverse for the poor man.
yeah. I was flying a lot transatlantically a lot in my 30s — but giving it up when my German relationship ended after 12 years was an unexpected benefit. It really does take the starch out of you.
Exactly! The dehydrating effect just says to the plane ‘flu viruses, “Come on in and set a spell.” The confined space with potentially infectious humans, the exhaustion, and then dehydration seriously dent one’s immune system. When I used to fly for business, I caught plenty of nasty viruses, including the “Houdini virus”, which causes asrhma in adults who have never had it before.
I believe British Airways still serves complimentary alcoholic beverages on its international flights – at least that’s how I read the phrase ‘free bar service’ in the link below. 😉
No, they don’t, as far as I remember. But they are very cheap and the inflight meals are fantastic, although I usually have to argue the flight attendant into giving me something other than the “European” meal.
How can someone be tired, pale and suffering from a cold (my thoughts when I heard him speaking) and still be this freaking gorgeous?!!! *floored* Poor man, I hope he has some time to recover before whatever is next on his agenda.
I have a knack with voices. Once I’ve heard a recording of someone, I can always id them or any sinus/congestion issues. He was definitely sick. Poor dear; he soldiered through. And he did mention wanting to do some classic stage work – Chekhov. Good for him. A bit more realistic than tackling Master i Margarita.
Dude, I read that as ‘chai’ freak (and thought, ahhh, how soothing… some lovely chai to help the sinuses) – but then, saw your reading of the name and it somehow made it even better!!! 😀
Welcome chaifreak! I adore anyone who can ID a person with sinus / congestion issues – and this isn’t just because I survived a few years of chronic atypical pneumonia either! 😉
Yeah, there was a scene or two with Guy and Marian late in the second season of Robin Hood when it sounded like he had a cold: it was subtle, but noticeable. I felt bad that he still had to spend long days working like that…glad that I get to call in sick!
I know what it’s like to have to lecture through flu because the syllabus will be destroyed otherwise, and I don’t envy him at all. Certain performances just can’t be rescheduled. He said that he never called in sick all the way through Cats, either.
Those pictures made Nick Nolte’s mug shot seem attractive. I still think Richard is great and I guess the fact that these photos exist proves he is not vain about his looks since he didn’t try to destroy them immediately or walk around with a bag over his head. A bad picture of Richard on a bad day is better than most (if not all) men on their best day.
He looks so tired, but still pretty I think. Hope he gets some rest and sleep. He needs to take care of himself.
I think he looked amazing and cute on Lorraine but he seemed somehow low, maybe having a cold or something. Hope everything is fine with him, just beeing little tired.
He looks really tired.. He needs some holidays. 🙂
