Richard Armitage Legenda 97: Stuff worth reading

[Legenda offers a brief, non-inclusive index of stuff about Richard Armitage that I noticed and enjoyed since the last episode. It doesn’t usually include materials presented on the major fansites, which I love dearly, but which are linked in the sidebar. Because I always forget or just miss stuff, please add additional pieces of interest via link in the comments.]

  3. Thanks for linkage … “Astoundingly obscure” – I’m honored! I was just looking at Porter’s teres again and thinking how much I also like the slight “farmer” tan line at his neck. (This all started as “research” for a scene in Recovery 😉 – quite a rabbit hole! )

    • I feel like the plan to exercise so he looked like a real person totally paid off in this film. Of course, Porter will never look like a real person, but this kind of thing makes him look realistic, anyway …

    • I thought there were so many true observations in that poem — after a while, it just kind of slugged you over and over and over with them.

  7. For anyone who hasn’t seen it yet there are new photos to look at of RA in Los Angeles this evening (21st) at the BAFTA LA Tea Event. Be prepared they are absolutely gorgeous but do take a look at those shoes he is wearing. Actually I know we will be discussing the whole outfit eventually and it will be interesting to hear Serv’s take on this. I just don’t like the shoes. Back to Porter though, odd I do think that John Porter looks real to me but I guess that is just me. Compared to some of the other characters RA has portrayed, such as Standring, perhaps not so realistic, but I say real meaning that I can see him as a soldier though obviously in some of the photos and such he is a bit too neat, too clean and such for what one would really look like in a war.

  10. Once again, and as always Serv, thank you for the generous link back! 🙂

I do have a question, and I don’t want to assume this is about one of my posts, but the following seems to be going to a broken link on FB – “On being an Armitage fan of a certain age”.

  11. The Thorin confession moved me very much. RA characters resonate with us in many different ways, but this one seems especially significant.
PS. Delicious week in Legenda, as always 🙂

    • Yes. It’s interesting how actors, people involved in professional identity reenactments, can facilitate and legitimate this process for private individuals. I think maybe on some level an inspiring actor is the only sort of person who can do that. This isn’t the first story like that that I’ve read, but it is a particularly intense and moving example.
