You know, the more I see this picture the less frightening I find it. Not that I’m particularly into force/restraint (for lack of better word). It sends mixed impressions, a duality. There’s just something about that stare…Is he contemplating something intimate?

Well, as it’s taken out of context, we read into the image what we want to read into it, I guess. Some will focus on the force, others will focus on something else. If his hand had a firm grip around her neck, I would completely freak out, and not in a good way.

I think if you’re an actor, simulating a firm grip — and this photo does that — there is absolutely tension in Armitage’s hand — you don’t want to scare your fellow actor. I do not see that hand as relaxed or warm in any way. I posted this photo in order to joke with a friend about it. But I personally do not see it as intimate in any way, unless you feel that violence is intimate. Some people feel that way and I have no need to kink shame. But the reading of this photo as creepy is absolutely as legitimate as any other, given what we know.
