Calendar, calendar? Richard Armitage, where will you be?

Another excerpt — — I don’t think Armitage can do this *and* The Crucible this summer. ?????

What stage is the film in now? Are the script and the cast complete?

The script is done. The cast, at the moment, has two actors under contract — Malcolm McDowell and Bruce Davison. We’re negotiating with other people, but everything depends on their ability for the shoot. As the first confirmed actor via contract is Malcolm McDowell, the shooting is turning around him. At the moment he’s finishing a tv series and at the end of September he’s starting a film in Minnesota. We have the gap between July and September to accommodate his calendar.

  1. From a career point of view, The Crucible would be the best move – the London Stage, The Old Vic, Kevin Spacey. This would make him far better known than a film with Malcolm McDowell, who probably isn’t so well-known these days.

    • I think there are career arguments for the film, as well, but it really depends on what he wants. I’m sure he’s dreamt of being a lead on the Old Vic stage for a long time.

  2. I’m not familiar with the other story, so I can only “like” The Crucible at this point for Richard Armitage.

But I think that the fact that Richard Armitage’s name is mentioned in conjunction with various artistic projects–perhaps hoping to entice him, perhaps recognizing he has cache with his Hobbit trilogy of films–all bodes well for him. I hope he has his pick of projects and that he can line them up for scheduling within his demanding Hobbit press and the Into the Storm film launch.

Don’t know the history or story, but I have a Peruvian friend that I might ask. He’s been talking about going back to the stage for a long time, but didn’t he mention wanting to go to Peru once before? Happy for him that he’s so busy suddenly
