Quietly moving: Suzy ponders her relationship with “her refugees” #richardarmitage
All of Suzy’s work and organization are starting to pay off as the refugees she assists at work and as a volunteer are receiving the official recognition of their status that is the gateway to so many other things: housing subsidies, German classes, etc..
This time, she reports on that development briefly before pondering what her relationship to the people she’s helping can really be, here in German and here in English.
I found this the most moving entry in her “refugee diary” so far. I don’t have an answer to her questions, but they are interesting to think over. How will friendships develop over time — and how long will the “refugees” be around to be “friends”? How does a person who I primarily function to help become a friend over time? When they become competent to resume their status as adults, what will we want to give each other?
Richard Armitage visited a refugee shelter in Spandau this spring. If you would like to support the work of the agency that operates that shelter, you can do so here in English and here in German.
Thanks for the reblog and the translation ❤
