Happy 47th birthday, Richard Armitage!
[details of this year’s iteration of my annual donation scheme on this day are at the end of the post]
The earth has completed its course around the sun once more. Seems like it’s faster every year. Here we can see the first yellow leaves on the trees already, signaling the beginning of the fall, but I hope wherever you are, you are still experiencing a pleasant summer. Happy birthday, Richard Armitage!
I can imagine this will be a difficult year for you (judging by my own past experiences) and I hope you have the day you want to have, or at least a day without too many difficulties. If I could wish or give you anything this year, I’d give you time. Enough and to spare, for whatever you needed it for. Perhaps this is only my insight of the past five years, renewed this summer: whatever it is that’s important, take the time to do it now, or at least start it now. If I could give you that, I would.
It seems superfluous to say that, judging by the number of times I saw Ocean’s 8 in the theaters, I’m still in deep. Glimpsing you on a screen still gives me the greatest pleasure. Thank you for everything you’ve provided us artistically, this year and always. And the sense of “many happy returns,” I look forward to seeing the way you express your new experiences and new knowledge on screen, the next time and the next time and the next.
As per usual, in honor of the occasion, I will make a donation of $1 (US) for each person who comments on this post from now until I close comments (when I go to bed Wednesday night, probably in about 24 hours from this post). A person is someone with a unique handle, email and IP address who leaves a comment HERE at my wordpress blog. Limit one comment per person. Lurkers and first-time commentators are welcome; however, I will not accept comments from people who have been blocked. Your comment does not have to have any particular content. There is no limit on the donation, but if comments exceed past expectations I reserve the right to complete the donation in installments. I will make the donation on September 1 or shortly thereafter, after which I will publish proof on this page. I will leave a message on the charity’s page in the name of a group of fans, but will not be sending separate notice to Richard Armitage.
This year, the money will be donated to LOROS in honor of Margaret Armitage.
You may also want to give to one of Armitage’s JustGiving charities, or take a last look at donating through Guylty’s event or bidding on one of her items.
Again, many happy returns to Mr. Armitage!
I do hope he has a good birthday, in spite of the sadness of losing his mother. Maybe he’ll have a quiet day by himself. And gone is the almost 1 month time span in which I am 6 years younger than him. Now it’s back to 7 years…!

Happy 47th Mr. A, it may be a tough one for him, the first one without his mother fussing and probably baking a favourite cake. I hope he is with family and going over fond and happy memories of his Mom with those who knew and loved her as much as he did.

Time – what a beautiful gift to wish for someone. It’s the one thing I think we regret most not having enough of. But when we get around to realising it, it’s almost always too late. Namaste 🙏🏻

Time is the greatest healer, but it’s often a gift we don’t allow ourselves in the grieving process. The world doesn’t stop for us because we lose someone–but there are times maybe it should. Whatever he chooses to do with his day, I hope he can honor himself and his wonderful mum. Happy birthday, Mr. A. Many hearts are with you today and always.

Very beautifully written. One of those times when I say to myself – “I wish I’d written that” My sentiments exactly! We had a saying back in Scotland which said, “Wishing you everything you wish yourself.”

Such a beautiful birthday post, Serv. Time is such a precious gift – time for oneself, for exciting projects, and time to spend with people who mean something. The latter is a bittersweet thought this year, as he has acknowledged in his own tweet last night. The first year without a loved one is always so hard. Hope he’ll have lots of interesting projects to distract his thoughts over the next 12 months.

That was lovely Serv. I’m sorry I didn’t see this before the cutoff, but he seems to be receiving a plethora of gifts this year between individuals and groups. LOROS being the common theme. Everyone loves the idea of honoring the Mum that created, literally and figuratively, our Richard. 😊🎂🙏🏻

I will probably make LOROS my default recipient after this for a variety of reasons — it’s not politically problematic and the death of a parent is something I share with him and identify with deeply.
