  5. haha Michele, i was feeling like such a saddo that others were trying to figure out his brand of t-shirt but my first thought was to have a good look at his teeth (obsessive dental hygienist) !

    • Rachel I’m told it’s Alexander McQueen and rather expensive at that. I thought it was refreshing to see the pearly whites now. I was just trying to figure out where he was exactly?
It got posted by him I think like around 7:35 EST where I live on East Coast which would make it late by you so I thought maybe he’s lurking around NYC 🤔😛??
      What do you think?

  7. Happy Halloween!
Ce type de photographies m’a toujours fait penser à la peinture de Munch: “Le Cri”, dont voici une analyse.
    https://www.kazoart.com/blog/loeuvre-a-la-loupe-le-cri-dedvard-munch/

    • Well he is a movie star and he saves loads of money by usually wearing the same old ratty white v neck! 😂😂

    • I suspect he didn’t pay full retail. He’s always worn clothes a little bit above his price range, even back in the day.

      • You think he’s a clearance junkie like a lot of us ( um me)?

        • He might be. But I also know that many celebrities get discounts on clothing they wear for important public appearances, if they want to keep it afterwards.

          • Yeah it reminds me of your cell phone convo b/ween him and Ilaria about styling him for O8 Premiere red carpet. Oh well.. I wonder how much the plaid shirt set him back or was that something he grabbed circa 2002 pre NS?

            Like

            • Ilaria seemed to put him in a lot of plaid when it was in style in 2012 / 2013. I know he keeps his clothing for a long time but a shirt bought in 2002 would now be 16 years old.

                • No way to know. He did wear a casual knit shirt from CBeebies to the Hobbit readthrough in 2011, though, so that would have been five years.

                  • Goodness! Those looked a bit antiquated to me and a little tight fitting in the YT videos… He spends a “fortune” on sunglass wear and a dime on t shirt wear unless it’s McQueen then it’s no holds bar..hmmmm

                    Like

                    • well, in 2006, he probably didn’t have either the personal funds or the access that he has today. he’s only been sporting the super expensive sunglasses since the Hobbit days, for instance. But it makes sense to economize on things you don’t care about.

  12. I never really got the “Happy” in Halloween. Denmark is new to Halloween – 15 years ago, it wasn’t a ‘thing’ here. Now, small kids dress up and go trick-or-treating in the dark (accompanied by their parents from a distance). But isn’t Halloween originally a mix of an ancient celtic, heathen feast which was then converted into All Hallows night (a remembrance of the dead) toghether with a story about the doomed Jack? Halloween is supposed to be scary, right? (In a safe sort of way). So where does the “Happy” come from?

    • I don’t know specifically — but there are many All Hallows’ / All Souls’ celebrations that are essentially happy (e.g., Dia de los Muertos in México). Samhain is a different matter — it was a more fraught holiday, but it also had that component of the presence of departed relatives.

For comparison purposes, Jews say “Chag Sameach” or “Gut Yontiff” (“Happy Holiday” in Hebrew or Yiddish) even on Yom Kippur (the deepest fast day). Although we wouldn’t say that in English, in English you say “have an easy fast.”

The Armitage still has a firm grip on me, and Servetus’ challenges with her dad keep me sane – literally. So, in between juggling 2 teenagers, 1 husband, 2 part-time jobs, 1 chronic illness, and 1 mum who may or may not have had a minor stroke, I’m happy to chip in whenever I can.

            • I’m sorry to hear about your chronic illness and also about your mother. One thing that I find tremendously frustrating is the uncertainty level of all of the diagnostic stuff related to stroke. I notice a symptom and ask the doctor and the answer is well, that could be stroke related or also one of these three other things. I really want more definite answers!

My mother’s been very inconsistent since my father died. Initially, I took to be her way of mourning. Now, I don’t really know; she goes from nasty to nice; from brainiac to forgetful – very borderline. So, I can definitely relate to some of Serv’s struggles with her dad. I have Crohn’s disease – a mild case.

                  • Happy for the mild case because heavy therapies have a lot of ill effects! My surgeon doesn’t want to cut out my baby factory (mill) because I’am too old! So “I understand you very well”! When parents are getting older, we are ageing too. At the same time, the teenagers are needing us for help to become free adults. To much to struggle with, we stand at the middle of “la Bataille des Cinq Armées”= “There And Back Again” (5 armies: husband, grandpa, grandma, son and daughter)

                  • well — in case her GP hasn’t told you yet — these personality swings can also be a symptom of dementia and unless you have a pre-stroke brain scan it can be impossible to tell (something we’re dealing with now)
