Legenda 28: Stuff worth reading
[Legenda offers a brief, non-inclusive index of stuff I noticed and enjoyed since the last episode. It doesn’t usually include materials presented on the major fansites, which I love dearly, but which are linked in the sidebar. Because I always forget or just miss stuff, please add additional pieces of interest via link in the comments.]
It’s been a bit more than a week; we had a holiday weekend here; I took a whole day off from everything to meet another fan; the nieces are more present than before; and of course I’ve been completely emotionally occupied with Thornton and my problems with him. I feel like I’m behind, but how can I be? It’s vacation. Anyway. For your delectation elsewhere:
- DO NOT FORGET: North & South global rewatch, June 1 and 2. Watch slots are here. How to connect with other watchers here.
- A Graphic a Day in May is wrapping up. Here’s a really pretty one contrasting Richard Armitage with John Porter. Also the question: what would you do if you bumped into Richard Armitage while wearing a fan t-shirt? and its answers are fun to read.
- Two lusciously detailed analytical posts on kissing at Thefrencharmitagearmy. Kissing Meg; and then Kissing Maya. I earmarked both of these for responses on blog here (I’ve had a draft on that Maya kiss since January 2011), but the Thornton preoccupation in combination with all the running around I’ve been doing has been a bit deafening. Someday. Why can’t I write faster ??!?
- “The Saga of Vaenomar” updated to chapter 9. Tension and resolution!
- “The Birth of a Legend“: khandy starts a Thorin fic. Sexual initiation, my favorite thing. Mmmmm.
- IngeD3 asks whether Armitage still likes Keane. I’ve been meaning to writing about something related to this question for awhile. Hmmm. Maybe this will push it further up the list. But I became a big fan of theirs because of him.
- Richard Armitage as thoughtful actor.
- On polyamorous fangirling. Who’s your bit on the side? I still don’t have one.
- More news about Hobbit action figure pre-orders at Heirs of Durin.
- Neato Richard Armitage stress picspam (English at the bottom of the post).
- Love the pic and the caption: Full Frontal Cutedity!
- PRAncing Armitage at Phylly’s Faves.
- Guy’s Robin Hood Ballet at White Rose.
- Sloan recommended this last time: A few aspect ratio issues but I loved the song!
And OT:
- Sister blogger Funky Blue D is starting a musical U.S. roadtrip. She always says she’s not blogging about Armitage; maybe in this series she’ll actually manage that (grins).
- Totally OT, but if I know Traxy’s point blank honesty, worth reading: Jack Nicholson Week at The Squeee.
- at The Guardian: Why men can be slobs on the red carpet but women can’t.
- also at The Guardian, and totally relevant for me: On being taken over by a fictional character. Has a fictional character ever caused you to change your behavior?
Don’t forget to add anything good that I forgot — or if there’s a new fanvid you especially like, to mention it in the comments.
Nice service, servetus. Again, I appreciate you mentioning my graphics challenge!
Here’s a North & South fan video I just discovered thanks to a commenter on my blog: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xqa588_john-thornton-is-not-from-here-north-south_shortfilms

Thanks again for putting my posts under your spot light. You should finish your own reading of Maya/John’s kiss. And I also really enjoyed reading The Guardian articles !

Servetus, thank you for pointing me to the kiss analyses, I really enjoyed reading them! 🙂 Polyamorous fangirling is just not for me. OK, while I was watching season 4 of True Blood, I did develop a bit of a crush on Eric a.k.a God of the Sea a.k.a. Alexander Skarsgard but as soon as I finished watching the series, he left my thoughts. Whereas RA never does. Leave my thoughts, that is. I wasn’t tempted to switch camps or whatever. I felt guilty while the side-crush lasted, as if I was “cheating” on Richard! How silly is that??? 🙂

I’m sure Mr. Armitage wouldn’t mind if you “cheated”. He seems like a very tolerant fellow.

Servetus, hope you don’t mind, but I just wanted to mention that I added a final chapter to my fanfic “When Thorin Met Tauriel” http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7855980/1/When_bThorin_b_met_Tauriel
and wrote another short Thorin/Tauriel fic called “Young Thorin in Love”

May I add another tip? Genevastar, who wrote “A Host of Low Truths” on Fanfiction.net, has written another Ros/Lucas story: “The Untold Story”, about the scnenes we did not see in series 7, for example Lucas’ debriefing by Ros.
