Legenda 64: Stuff worth reading
[Legenda offers a brief, non-inclusive index of stuff I noticed and enjoyed since the last episode. It doesn’t usually include materials presented on the major fansites, which I love dearly, but which are linked in the sidebar. Because I always forget or just miss stuff, please add additional pieces of interest via link in the comments.]
Given what I’ve been doing this week, my inbox is a mess. I’m linking to some stuff I haven’t read very carefully, and I’ve probably missed some stuff. There were chunks of my usual coverage that I just didn’t get to read this week. I’m not giving them — they will be back. Especially fan fic. Do add things in the links —
AND DON’T FORGET TO COMMENT on work you especially like! 🙂
Richard III news
As this is published, the first pictures of the human remains found in Leicester should be hitting the web. There’s a skull picture at the very least. The press conference starts Feb 4 at 10 a.m. UK time.
- Only a few more hours to find out whose body that was or wasn’t in the car park at Leicester. Details about the relevant broadcasts are found here (television documentary) and here (press conference info). If you are outside of the broadcast area and can’t get the English Internet to work for you, you may need to watch via a VPN or install Expat Shield (there is a free version to try. Thanks to someone who shall remain nameless for the second tip).
- FedoraLady compliments Armitage for his politeness when he had to miss the interview that BBC Radio Leicester had announced.
- In the flood of very optimistic statements from Philippa Langley (some linked here), the motor behind the project, a Sunday Times article appears. Behind a paywall but you can find significant quotations here (linked for a rather cool statement from Armitage’s agent).
FanstRAvaganza 4!
If you’re interested, it’s really time to tell Traxy via the link that you want to participate!
Richard Armitage Archive
- Two posts that were really important and valuable to me while I was trying to prepare for the challenges of last week: Analysis of the Dwarves’ Song Part I and Part II.
- Richard Armitage as dreamer.
- Are you ready to let go of your Hobbit euphoria yet? Grati isn’t.
- Brief Armitage sighting on U.S. television.
- Jas on Armitage’s privacy.
- Xenia puzzles over the Richard Armitage girlfriend question.
- “Everything’s Coming Up Richard Armitage.” Another fan confession!
- GB’s latest Armitage / Hobbit drawing project.
- Unfavorite moments in North & South.
- Neat comparison: Proposals in North & South vs. Pride and Prejudice.
- Armitage as musketeer.
- Little Thorin needs love, too.
- Sir Guy and the Secret Weapon.
- Hoax cover for the blu-ray edition of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. In case you didn’t realize there’s yet another way to get you to spend your money — the first version of the film’s DVD will come out in March, already, but a later version with more material will come out in October.
- Updates on Hobbit box office — bigger than the first LOTR films.
Armitage changes
- Herba’s first blogiversary!
- Triski’s back. Give her some love!
- Zan on changes in Richard Armitage’s life and her own retirement. G-dspeed!
- Agzy needs some good wishes for her upcoming exams.
- Guy ponders FedoraLady’s first blogiversary! And FedoraLady celebrates with some blog stats (don’t we love these?). And the chaRActers tell what they are looking forward to most in the next year.
Richard Armitage-related fanfic
- Jubilation, celebration! Jas picks up her modern N&S fanfic “John and Maggie: A Love Story” after a long pause with ch. 6.
- “The Saga of Vaenomar,” ch. 21. Thorin gets some more insight into his feelings about our heroine.
Richard Armitage Tumblr
- Reasons why you should really … not have a crush on Richard Armitage. This is fantastic — it’s a slide show; make sure you see all the slides.
- Beautiful sexy Thorin artwork.
Hi Serv,
Thanks for my post mention. And thanks for the KRIII press conference links.
Cheers! Grati ;->

Thanks for the link to the Twitter interview with Graham McTavish! I really enjoy his character, Dwalin. In fact, I’ve written a Dwalin fanfic. Thorin makes a few key appearances. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8871763/1/The-Adventures-of-Dwalin-the-Dwarf
