Richard Armitage Legenda 100: Stuff worth reading
[Legenda offers a brief, non-inclusive index of stuff about Richard Armitage that I noticed and enjoyed since the last episode. It doesn’t usually include materials presented on the major fansites, which I love dearly, but which are linked in the sidebar. Because I always forget or just miss stuff, please add additional pieces of interest via link in the comments.]

Richard Armitage-related fanfiction
- At Something About Love (A): “Thorin’s Dream of Love” goes to ch. 4. and ch. 5.
- Really interesting — at wattpad, a Spooks / Life on Mars crossover fic by siriuslygrednforge, “Walking on the Moon.” Lucas North is transported to the past — and has the chance to meet his mother. Plus points for ongoing citation of Sting songs. Four chapters so far.
- KathrynD indexes her Lucas North / Spooks fanfic. I have linked some of these stories here — but not all of them. Check it out.
- Guylty indexes her previous photo ficlets.
- “The Saga of Vaenomar” goes to ch. 33. Pre-history of Erebor exiles / romance / occasionally edge.
- At DF (ask someone if you’re not a member): Obscura’s “Recovery” goes to ch. 18. John Porter / OFC / AU. This one’s definitely NC-17.
- Thorin comfort fic in response to the madness in the TDOS trailer.
- Note — I have not read this, but it was advertised somewhere as inspired by Armitage.
- At A03: “Physical (you’re so)” by Red_Shiloh (RPF / slash / Armitage + O’Gorman plus other pairings). Make sure you read disclaimers; O’Gorman’s a prostitute in this one. I have to say that I’m incredibly curious now about how this is going to end. Fanfic has really taught me a lot about the experience of the nineteenth-century reader, waiting for the next installment of Dickens.
Fanfic authors verge into original stories
- At wattpad: KathrynD’s “The Warmth of Strangers.” A sweet romance to warm you up on a cold fall evening. And an index of her original fiction.
- At wattpad: CarlyQ’s “Safety of Solitude.” Romance with edge but / and lots of sexy.

- Dean O’Gorman fans should sign a petition for another season of The Almighty Johnsons.
- Not least because he’s such a nice guy — Sam who visited the Hobbit set via Make a Wish receives a gift from Dean O’Gorman.
- Have you been following Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart’s pics on FB?
- If you enjoyed Dawn French’s memoir, Dear Fatty (in which Ms. French describes Armitage as kisser), you might like to look at the new book by the other half of the team, Jennifer Saunders.

Thanks for the links. Can’t believe you’re up to number 100! That’s some serious dedication 🙂 Re RIII – I’m beginning to wonder if he wasn’t better off in the car park. Have distanced myself somewhat from the whole sordid business (while still fully in support of my cathedral’s plans – of course).

that comment about how Philippa Langley was only doing this for self-aggrandizement was really disturbing. It’s really gotten out of hand.

Yes…for all her faults I believe she had the very best intentions. I feel particularly sorry for Leicester Cathedral who are having to go ahead with plans without knowing for sure what’s happening. Not to mention dealing with a lot of criticism I don’t think they deserve. I’ll be glad when we know what’s happening, whatever that may be.

Plus, it’s not like doing this is really inherently self-aggrandizing. The project was thought so crazy that private donors had to be found. She subjected herself to general ridicule for years and years for being a Ricardian at all. No one is perfect, but she pursued her ideas and she did it successfully, and honestly if any man had done that he would have gotten twice the reward and none of the critique.

The first Channel 4 doc didn’t do her any favours and it’s unlikely a man would’ve been portrayed in the same way but it suited the current trend for sensationalism. But as the saying goes, we are where we are. And we wouldn’t be there at all without her 🙂

Congrats on the milestone, Serv. Brian Sibley’s story of finding himself in an old photo brought to mind the excellent TV series from the late 90s called ‘Shooting The Past’, about a photographic library- very atmospheric and engrossing. Well worth hunting up if you’ve never seen it – Lindsay Duncan and Timothy Spall.

Possibly worth noting — I’m not really doing Legenda for the dedicated Armitageworld blogger — most of us are reading everything fans write about Richard Armitage already anyway. This is more for the lurker or slightly more casual Armitage fan who may not follow all the outlets. One of the thing it’s supposed to do is try to direct new and casual fans who may get here because of search results to sites they might not find as easily. I don’t know if it always works that way, but it’s my hope …

Congratulations on Legenda 100! I always find something fun in your collection of material, and I’m really glad you go to the trouble of rounding all this stuff up.
My guess about the Naked Dwarves Calendar is that Richard probably mentioned it first in conversation, but Graham probably got everyone together and made it happen. Something like that — in truth they probably share the honor as co-creators.
