This is a picture that I don’t look at all that often, but when I do. Wow. I think I save it for low moments. I know that loving the damp tendrils of hair in the face makes me into a serious cliché but I do not even care. This picture can pep me up in a second. Even if it’s just to drag myself into bed.

Thanks for all the kind supportive comments yesterday. The next week will be slim. But I know that things will look up soon. Moves are just hard.

Is there an Armitage view that picks you up in an instant?

  1. The one from the photo shoot for DaMan magazine of him sitting on the chair wearing the hat. Makes me smile every time.
On another note, Serv, try not to overwork yourself moving. Hugs, lady!!

    • Thanks for the hugs. It’s really emotional strain more than anything else.

      So one vote for DaMan.

  2. That is the most beautiful black and white photograph of all time. Seriously.

  3. The one that takes my breath away and then makes me smile is the one of him sitting on the cement floor with his arms resting on his outstretched legs. He is wearing an olive colored buttoned down shirt with the sleeves rolled up, jeans, and black shoes. There are no words for his eye contact.

Alles Gute für deinen Umzug! ❤

  5. Oof. That photo is one of my favorites as well, but for me the go-tos are these two gifs:

  6. I love so many of the photos during the Desolation of Smaug premiere and the Hamlet audiobook recording. So, so much. Soooo much.

Good luck with the move, and I hope you have a great weekend!

  7. Oh, glad this did the trick for you 🙂 I can see why, some cliches are that because they actually work, every single time!
I admit any Guy-photo picks me up, just because they are utterly silly and OTT and unreal, but nevertheless great to look at 🙂 (gifs are even better, preferably of the wicked smile or the walk 😉 ). For a spot of ‘tender’ it tends to be Thorin 🙂

  9. I’d come down and help, but my house still looks like a tornado hit it.

Any Guy Photo – especially clean 3rd season or any 1st season – does it for me. Also, most pictures from Comic Con when he was all beardy and burly. Yeah. Oh yeah.

I’d say relax, but I’m fresh from that as well. Just TRY to relax.

    • This part of my move will not be so monumental. In the spring I will have to go get stuff from TX and that will more like the move you just did. Sigh. Not looking forward.

      Yeah. Beardy. Beardy.

      • I have come to the conclusion that I will be in this house one year and one year only. So the main thing is for Spawn and I to SERIOUSLY downsize. Certain pieces of furniture are NOT making the next move and the majority of the boxes are going elsewhere. I will begin Goodwill trips next week.

        I NEED Burly and Beardy.

        • every move I make downsizes me a little more and it’s a good thing, I think. The experience of going through mom’s things last summer really brought the point home to me that we (family) just have too much stuff.

          • I have gained and gained and gained and enough is enough. When I moved down the coast in 2006, I moved a 10 x 20. When I moved out, I had the 10 x 30, a 10 x 10 and a duplex 2nd bedroom 10 x 10 and more than half of a 12 x 12 kitchen. I managed to downsize to the 10 x 30, but it’s still too much stuff. My dining room table will NOT make the next move. If I have electronic versions of certain books I have, they will (the hardbacks) go. I have clothes I’ll NEVER get back into and even if I DID loose that much weight, they are so badly out of style…

I just unpacked a box of Spawn’s – his collection of Toy Story stuffies… including a Buzz Lightyear and FOUR Woody’s. I’m not sure I’m ready for him to give those up… but if he decides they go, they go.

  10. Almost anything recharges my RA batteries. I am not very discriminating. Strike Back , Crucible , Thorin and various carpet moments. The list of pics that don’t spark my batteries is much shorter than the list of ones that do. Hope your move goes smoothly and you take a few breaks for stress relief at the BBOTP.

  16. That’s a tough question, there are probably a dozen or so photos that are my “favourites!” I love the ones from Berlin in, I think, 2013 when he was promoting the Desolation of Smaug. His hair was longish and wavy, he had a bit of stubble going and he wore the most gorgeous suit. That black and white you posted is incredible. I’ve never really looked at it carefully before. It’s a lovely shot, but one cannot appreciate his light blue eyes in it and my favourite photos of him are the ones where the eyes are just piercing blue. Such a great diversion! 🙂

  20. My recharge is not a photo, but a behind the scene screen capture from The Hobbit. He sits on a couch, looking like a Scruffy McScruffness yet full of deliciousness. He has the look of intense concentration no doubt overturning any detail on Tolkien or Thorin he can find.

It’s not only my recharge photo; it serves as my go-to inspiration photo as I study for my final test. (I can’t seem to post it in comments.)
