a frequently irreverent and occasionally cerebral feuilleton of richard armitage studies
Richard Armitage stretched out
Ausgeleiert is a German word that means “stretched out to the point of no return.” The tip of Richard Armitage’s v-neck collar in the t-shirt in this picture is ausgeleiert. [aus – guh – LYE – ert].
Little slip-ups like that are my favourite look on him. Not quite the fashion victim that the hipster pants and olive green parkas might lead us to believe…
You are spot on. These little sartorial slip ups reveal glimpses of his real self IMO, far more than any outfit he wears put together by a stylist; I find that (strangely) reassuring.
Much like when we get to see that rolled out bed in crumpled clothes look. I love that look on him. He probably was exhausted when he did this, since it was during the play. He needed a comfort t.
I deleted the whole paragraph I wrote about the relationship of this adjective to organ grinders and droning melodies and so on — this is actually a favorite German word for me 🙂 and there’s no satisfactory way to say this same thing in English — I looked up a few translations and none of them were very good.
I guess my look is who cares..lol..He once made the comment he doesn’t dress himself well and that is why he wears clothes from the wardrobes of characters. Mostly Lucas’ at the time. I guess it shows why, but it also shows a person who really just doesn’t care sometimes and grabs what he feels like and is comfortable in. I say go for it.
😂 I agree.

Having a teenage son, I can tell you those white t shirts are VERY inexpensive. Richard should spring for a few new ones!

I think he might like the old t-shirt … threadbare, soft, loose … i can identify.

Those shirts are usually the most comfortable and hard to give up.

Me too, Zigzag. Proof that there is a “real” person underneath the threads.

I love your english translation of “ausgeleiert”.
“Stretched out to the point of no return” sounds way more dramatic!

I think he was going for casual here, in any case.
