In thirteen extra minutes, will we see more of Thorin Oakenshield?
TORn repeats press release about Extended Edition availability — Oct 22 on download, Blu-Ray / DVD Nov 5 in the U.S. and Nov 11 in the UK. The TORn report also has a content listing.
If you’re going to buy, don’t neglect to go to Amazon from the RichardArmitageNet.com page — fans have generated thousands of pounds of donations to Richard Armitage’s JustGiving charities over the years.
A little more Thorin? Pretty please? Just a little more Richard Armitage to tide us over?

A reminder that advance tickets for the local premieres of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will go on sale Nov 21 in the U.S.
Oh, I wish I’d known about that. I’d already ordered from Amazon actually. They had the estimated date of Nov 8th. for release here in the U.S.

I bought The Hobbit first release through RANet, where I now get all my Richard related DVD’s, etc. I will surely buy the extended release as well. However I won’t deny that if I hear that Richard/Thorin is not in one frame of that, or in the Special Features, or that the additional footage significantly adds all that much to the Extended Release, that I might skip it…or not. *sigh*

I haven’t decided how imperative the Digital Download is. I suppose I’ll get the extended edition in some form, though …

I pre-ordered the Extended version through Ali’s site on Amazon.co. It should arrive from Nov. 12th. I will wait some extra days just to donate through her Amazon link 🙂 I discovered the English version has Italian audio/sub so my sister can watch it too!
I am eager to see all the extra: Dwarf Camp, Doing the Songs etc. Hope for some RA or Thorin, I really hope. I will be very sad if there will be no extra Thorin.
About Digital download: not sure if it will be available in Italy.

From what I heard, the digital download, which I purchased, won’t include the extra production hours on October 22 – just the thirteen minutes in the film. I figured it was worth the extra $$ when I thought I would get the extras early and ( I assume) be able to download it all directly to both computers – now I’m not so sure. Will I even recognize the additional minutes?

This is a good question — you know, I ‘ve watched it enough that I would definitely recognize additional dialogue or scenes, but not sure if I’d recognize an additional fifteen seconds more of action or something … perhaps I need to wait until after the 22nd. I bet that DarkJackal / Heirs of Durin will have that stuff isolated and capped w/in24 hours.

I bet that’s true – within 4 hours- the time it takes to watch once and then do the work!
