Legenda 50: Stuff worth reading

[Legenda offers a brief, non-inclusive index of stuff I noticed and enjoyed since the last episode. It doesn’t usually include materials presented on the major fansites, which I love dearly, but which are linked in the sidebar. Because I always forget or just miss stuff, please add additional pieces of interest via link in the comments.]

This was neat:

Odd informational moment:

Today is the anniversary of the historical Servetus‘ being burned at the stake for heresy in Geneva. Make of this fact what you will.

Your homework this week:

Leave at least one comment on a blog post you like from this list!

Event:

#Heinzwatch on Twitter takes place tonight (Captain America: The First Avenger).

RArchive:

Vids:

Yeah, I know, don’t fall down. I actually watched a few this week. Here are two I liked.

  • From tassuett. I really like this song.

Also, Fedoralady seems to be moving her vids from one account to another and is reposting some of them on her blog this week.

tumblr:

I didn’t spend much time here this week, gang, sorry; I was really busy. Please leave links to good stuff in the comments, though!

  • At Guy-lty Pleasure — an index of the *ooof* moments!
  • “About Richard” series continues at mezzmerized (now tagged for easy access!) with some of the many compliments for Mr. Armitage we read this week.

Fanfic:

  • At La Loba, “Undisclosed Desires,” a Guy / Marian retelling with pictures.
  • GB’s “One Last Try” goes to ch. 11. Beware of irresistible cuteness!
  • Vaenomar is back in this (AU) Hobbit prequel! ch. 17. and ch. 18A.
  • Lillianschild’s “A Voice in the Dark” (Lucas North / OC). A rewrite of series 7. Five chapters so far; starts here.
  • Gratiana Lovelace starts a new Guy of Gisborne fic, “Sir Guy’s Dilemma.” (This is a sequel to “Guy’s Rose.” Read over there for any warnings / disclaimers.)
  • At RAucous — “Hot August Night,” part 4. (RPF; explicit). Rich and Dree make it into the shower!

OT, collateral attractions, and things I think about:

  1. Thanks, Servetus, for the round-up of good stuff as always. 😀 I no longer have any vids at Vimeo and am discovering many of those previously blocked at YT are now being accepted at YouTube, and most people (sorry, Germany!) can see the majority of them.

So they are “new” in the sense they’ve not been at YT before. And I can upload them SOOOOO much faster here at the beach condo so taking advantage of the speed!! Glad you liked my little Brad/Thorin parody, too. 😉

    • I’m currently having the opposite problem — that stuff I have at YT gets blocked and I have to move it to Vimeo so that anyone can see it.

      • Hmmmm. Vimeo actually removed ALL mine–even the ones that were made up of MY own photographs of local events–not RA stills,. screencaps–and I confess I got pretty angry about it all. They said they would reinstate those but I said forget about it. So I don’t know what the heck’s going on. Next week they might decide to block them all again.

Vimeo told me nothing taken from a television show or film would be allowed. ?? I am surprised they haven’t been after others, too.

        I don’t know, maybe somebody informed on me . . . LOL

        • well, you have to figure this is coming. It’s been on my mind for a long time. And there’s NOTHING in my account that isn’t tv / movie footage, so it will all go, too. It’s going to lead to a situation in which people just move from free host to free host … with disastrous results not just for our own activities, but also for the reputations of those companies. They gain nothing by doing this and lose a lot of good will.

          • Yep. I think you could say they tend to cut off their noses to spite their faces. It’s really so unncessary, as fanvidders are not taking a thing away from them. They just come off looking like the heavies. 😦

  3. I don’t understand any of this. (Why I don’t have blog.) All these “social media”/blog formats thingies just change. And change. (I must be brain-challenged – knew that already. Algebra…)But we do eventually find the paths to your various sites, vimeo or YT. or whatever.

Grateful for Legenda – it does help point the way!

  5. Does it count if I did my homework before you gave the assignment?

    Like

    • absolutely. I said that because I can see how many people click from this blog to another one from dashboard — and then I see that not many comments are left, and I want to encourage people to recognize good blogging / work. If you’re already doing the homework, you certainly get the the credit 🙂

  7. Servetus, you’re actually not making it easy for me these days to keep abreast…(gasp!)
    So I give you a shout…
Because of you publishing a flood tide of posts these days, whereat I’m boundlessly grateful as all this is marvellous and stunning, I’m still speechlessly overwhelmed and rather above it….. (yeah, there were loads of new thrilling press articles this week!) Your numerous interesting and touchingly written insights into the RA fandom and other relevant personal stuff strongly need a real closer consideration and assimilation on my part and I obviously need my time to process all that. Then again, in addition, five birthday invitations of friends and colleagues within the last 2 weeks combined with too much RL work have left my mind in a constant whirl and it already started to play me tricks… 😡 BUT..first of all there is this still vehement excitement of going to London to the (Royal film performance) Hobbit-Premiere (Hi Judit and Agzy!!) which adds to another couple of almost sleepless nights. I’m still not accustomed to this idea yet!!
Anyway, this was my due sign of life as for certain I’m also one of those readers who leaves numerous clicks on your “dashboard counter” without commenting that often…You know… LOL
    Homework done???

  10. Thanks for all the great links…I’ve been out of touch this weekend. For some reason, I was inspired to write a fic, which seems to be turning into a book, it’s just been pouring out (like 30 pages pouring out)- probably sucks, who am I to judge. (mind you, I’ve struggled to write ten pages of my dissertation for four years.) As if I needed more to do! I’ve made room in my life to watch and listen to as much of the RA opus as I can get my hands on. Now I need to find time to write FICTION!?! Damn the man – does he HAVE to be so inspiring!! 😉 Somebody stop me! Please!

  12. Homework, I have not been doing mine for math. But my teacher thinks that I am ready to to a pretest then go on to retake my math test and hopefully pass then finally be in the OTA program or waiting list. I took off this semester to just work on the math. I just seem too busy to look over the math, been reading blogs or trying to play catch up still from last week yet. I hope this will do for the homework part.
