Didn’t Dawn French say when she was kissing Richard he was sweet, shy and giggly? And we’ve heard him on the verge of giggles in interviews . . .
I know what you mean about sometimes wanting to pet him. I also want to pinch his cheeks a la Trudy Styler in the Comic Relief sketch. And give him a big cuddly hug. He looks so boyish in that Frozen interview.

I love it when he laughs, gets the giggles. The absolute best example of this to me is in GiztheGunslinger’s vid on YT: The Impressionists (behind the scenes): funny moments.
1:00 in Richard is in hysterics, it’s just delightful watching him. I don’t know about petting him, but I love him more every time I see it; he’s gorgeous!

Yeah, it’s the sort of brush-like effect when it is cut that way–when he had his cropped hair and beard for the photo shoot I found myself wanting to do the same thing to his head, even though he looks rather fierce in most of the pictures: run the palm of my hand over it.

I love it when Richard “giggles” in the extra’s on N & S, when talks about the horse poo, cracks me up everytime. Richard has a very infectious laugh.
Along with the Tongue of concentration (TOC) I hope he never becomes self conscious of them.

How old is he on that photo? He looks nineteen:) and one more thing,I really liked Richard’s teeth before the amendments.

Looks young I agree, it was 2005 and released in 2006. So Richard would have been 33.

Yep, it was later than I was thinking. Look at him in this photo and think about the fact in 2006 he filmed the first series of Robin Hood. What a transformation in a year’s time.

I think Frozen was in–2002? Which would have been ten years ago so he had to be around 30.

Joanna, I also have an affection for his pre-cosmetic dentistry teeth.
He still had such a great smile and it had a certain quirky charm. Ah, well, as some have pointed out, perhaps the crowded teeth on the bottom were causing some oral health problems. Or perhaps it was recommended to him for a greater chance of leading man roles . . . who knows??

Looks so different than he did in N&S–but then again, he looked so different in his N&S interview than he did as Thornton . . . what a chameleon that man is!

I think that chameleon quality has helped him to maintain his privacy over the years. Hopefully that will still be the case to a certain extent this time next year. Depends on his exposure in interviews etc, I guess, since Thorin looks different, though maybe not so much to those of us who study him so closely!
I much preferred his natural teeth too. He still has a beautiful smile, but his teeth are generic now, whereas previously they had “character.”

Oh yep, he looks very, very boyish here. “Frozen” was released 2006, though probably filmed in 2004/2005. 🙂 Definitely in his thirty-somethings!

He also seems to look a bit more boyish when clean-shaven. Think of how he looked in that Captain America interview where he is wearing the blue shirt. And when he was promoting Spooks 9.
But I do love that stubble . . . and now I am loving a long mane of hair with these cute little braids and a mustache and beard . . . for some inexplicable reason. 😉

He usually appears younger in interwiews. Maybe because then he is more reserved and we`re seeing his shier private sides, him just being Richard (which is perfect with me). He can’t hide away himself behind a role. Thereby we’re able to recognise his incredible acting abilities even better.

I always chuckle when I think of Richard saying. “It’s the characters they are attracted to” when asked about his sex symbol status. No, dear Richard, it is not just the characters. They are wonderful. But you–a sweet, shy, funny, kind, gentlemanly beaut of a fellow–have plenty that attracts us, too.

I have quite a lot of experience in describing Mr. A and his characters. I should be good at it by now. *grin* I have said before if I were to meet him and have a conversation, I hope I would say something that tickled his funnybone. I would adore bringing a smile to that beautiful face and just maybe getting a geeky giggle out of him, too.
He is such a love, he really, really is. And that modesty and self effacement just make him all the more appealing.

Thorin’s bread (and hair!)–I want to pet it and stroke it and kiss it and plait it into itty-bitty braids. *giggle* It all looks so soft and touchable. Bet Thorin goes through a lot of conditioner to keep it all tangle-free, what do you reckon?

Yes, this photo provokes the urge to pet him alright, as well as the urge to make him laugh. For a man who is right about so many things, he sure is mistaken if he thinks it’s just the characters he plays that enchant us.

BTW I always wondered if he is wearing that jumper/sweater with the inside out? It is his costume, so he cannot just have grabbed it in the morning.

There was a style in the US in the late 1990s of wearing some clothing inside out, so maybe it is inside out on purpose.
