Legenda 40: stuff worth reading

This florilegium comes a little early this week because it was pressing to clean out my email account if I am to get anything done this week.

Yes, I’ve just gotten “home.” Happily, without mishap. Well, it doesn’t feel like home. But although I got turned around getting there, the key I have did open my apartment, my stuff was still in there, and there was a parking place in front of the door. After having lived in a lot of places, I’ve discovered that I’ve got place-specific information stored in mid-term memory. It always takes me a day or so to remember where everything is … just hope I can remember where to find the grocery store. Still struggling with guilt vs. relief, but OMG the being alone, the being alone. And the fact that no major household appliance seems to have leaked and molded all over everything while I was gone.

The topper Richard Armitage story of the week and probably the month and maybe the year up till now: ItsJSforMe and her family meet Richard Armitage on the set of his new film. She mentions the experiences of RALover, which I also linked to earlier this week. Unspeakably, immensely pleasing on about a jazillion levels.

OT, collateral attractions, and stuff I think about:

• GB offers a portrait of himself as a developing photographer.
• Dooce describes watching Silver Spoons as a kid and wanting to go back to her room and pretend to make out with Jason Bateman. I could so identify.
• The Summer of Breakup Porn — on KStew’s indiscretions — I learned from this that the Twihards have largely, and somewhat callously, turned against her now — vs Katie Holmes’ behavior in front of the press.
• The “real” reason women love 50 Shades of Grey — because it should be reminding their husbands that a little planning and attention can make sex lot better. This goes along with my former TA’s theory that the reason people loved the story was because it was an unmitigated romance.
• I am a born mirror-faster, and it hasn’t improved my body image in the least. I’d argue for the contrary.
• My beloved Zadie Smith has a new novel coming out!
